Why do I love souls-like games, but I'm terrible at them? (Really just the boss fights)

I'm watching a guy on Youtube completely run through Mortal Shell 2 on normal difficulty and he's making it look easy. He'll die here and there, but I know for a fact if it was me on the joystick I'd be getting completely OWNED. How do I get better at a game genre that feels like you are meant to lose and rage quit?

Anyone afraid of making friends with other races?

After Nolan Wells, and even other situations with other POCs, I've been very cautious with being around white ppl. Does anyone have that problem? And how have you overcame it?

Just wanted to share my love for the game.

I picked this game up on sale when I first got my Steam Deck about a year and a half ago. Thinking it was some bullshit game to kill time because it was so cheap (I paid like $5 or less). The Steam Deck was my first gaming PC and my first game since 2010 that I owned so I was completely new to Steam and how great the sales were. I played the game once when I first bought it and havent touched it until about a week ago. Since then I've been in love with this game. I won't lie, I'm ass, but i enjoy the combat (not starting all the way over after an hour of gameplay though lol). Because of this game, souls-like is my favorite genre of games now. I can't wait for Mortal Shell 2 and I can't wait to try Elden Ring. I hear its a little easier to progress and more save and checkpoints.

Any mods to save and start from checkpoint?

Hey, guys! I'm new to souls-like games and I'm loving it so far, but playing for 45, then dying and starting from the beginning is killing inside-out 😂. Are there any mods to not start all the way over and start from a different checkpoint?

Should I move to a new city to find work?

Hey, all. I'm currently living in St. Louis, MO. I have 2 years of basic IT support experience and I have a bachelor's. Some people say STL isn't a bad market for finding work, but it's been feeling impossible to find a gig here lately. I'm thinking Pittsburgh or NYC (and living in Jersey or Connecticut to avoid HCOL). Is it worth it to move right now or is the job market crap everywhere?

What can I do in my situation?

I've been studying for the Net+, but some things came up and I'm now unable to afford the voucher for the exam. My goal is to aim for jr sysadmin roles, but I think I'll get overlooked because I dont have any certs. I have a bachelor's degree and 2 years of very basic IT support experience, but i dont feel its enough to land junior sysadmin role with no certs in this horrible job market. What can I do?

Is it just me or are homelabs not what people make it out to be?

I created a virtual homelab in Azure with Windows Server and Windows 11, and while I did learn a little, at a certain point I ran out of things to do. The challenging part was finding something challenging. Its not fun fixing broken things when I'm the one who broke it, so I don't learn anything. Doing tasks in PowerShell was fun, but its like once you understand what and why you automate tasks and understand scripting ChatGPT and Claude can do most of the heavy lifting with that and I can just go through the script to make sure everything is correct and punch specific info I need. Overall, my issue is finding things to fix things beyond a squiky clean, barely used server. I want to get hardcore experience. Machines with 50-100+ users are unconsciously ruining things LOL.

When will I know I'm ready for systems administrator role?

About 2 years experience in IT Support, worked in a homelab for a little while, I know a little Azure and AWS, and I'm working on Net+ and Azure Administrator. Here are the things I've done and know:

PREVIOUS JOB

- Install like windows and Microsoft 365 on computers

- Desktop setup

- Software troubleshooting

- Basic Active Directory (password resets, new user setup)

HOMELAB

- Configured static IP addressing

- Server setup

- Assigned DNS servers

- Automated in PowerShells

- Configured group policy settings

- backup and recovery

- security hardening

(I also know Bash & Python, and some web development)

Serious Question: How do you all handle/handled having white friends growing up?

When I was growing up (14-16) I dated out of my race a lot (I'm 30 now), but only 1 or 2 white girls and when I met their folks and went to their house I never felt unsafe and nothing crazy or dangerous ever happened. Fast forward today with social media being so prevalent now I'm constantly hearing about black kids coming up missing or dying after hanging with their white friends, and also some cases with older people, but I hear about it less often. Even when I hang with mostly white groups now I don't feel unsafe, but in the back of my head I'm always really paranoid that idk what's next. Do you all think this is fairly still uncommon and media is just highlighting the few cases that are happening or do you think it's a popular issue? And what are your experiences with white friend groups?

Should I move to another city/state to find work?

I'm currently in St. Louis and I'm in IT. I'm thinking of moving to Houston or Pittsburgh to find work because I can't find anything here. I have family in Houston so it'll be easy to move quickly there, but my wife prefers Pittsburgh. I have a bachelor's in IT and have 2 years experience with some skills for higher roles in IT I picked up in my spare time, so I like to think I'd have a good shot if I moved anywhere. Would this be a good idea? And if so or if not, what do you think I should do?

Looking for a new cheap game to play. Any recs?

Any games are fine, I don't mind stepping out of my comfort zone, but games I've really taken a liking to are Shadow Warrior 2, Dead Island 2, Death Stranding 1, Grand Theft Auto 4, Saints Row 1-3, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima, and Far Cry 6. My budget is $10

I'm usually poor when steam sales happen and have to just catch a game when I can. This time I was poor+ . List of games i was able to get this sale:

• A Plague Tale - Innocence

• Transistor

• Black Desert

• Dishonored

• Don't Starve Together

Will I finish any of them? Only time and God knows.

Should I upgrade?

I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S22 and I know it stops updating this year, but I really would like to save a little longer (Maybe til the end of 2027). I'm a little worried about my phone becoming useless. Should I just go ahead and upgrade or am I able to hold out a little longer while I save?

What games do you guys hate that you can't ply on Steam Deck or the Steam Machine?

I'm more of a single player gamer anyway, but it doesn't hurt to get a little CoD or Battlefield in every now and then.
