Today in my writing session I surpassed 80,000 words which is longer than my first novel!
My first book was about 78,000 words. I’m still aiming for 2,000 words each day to reach 100,000 words total. If I can keep this up for ten more days then the sequel draft will be complete.
I write military sci-fi and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to expand the world building based on the elements I established in the first novel. One of these aspects is the void thread, a cosmic curse that is spreading across the galaxy and consuming worlds. The image I attached is of my main character Kaelith Sothrak as he goes through a promethean-style punishment of pulling the thread from the cosmos. It was drawn by the cover artist.
I also wanted to share the epigraph I plan on using for the sequel:
The truth concealed from the priest and revealed to the warrior: that this world always was and is and shall be ever-living fire. Revealed to the lover too: every lover is a warrior; love is all fire.
Chandogya Upanishad, V, iii 7. Heraclitus, frg. 29.
(Not intended as self promotion, this is a writing update on my process as I near writing the end of the story)
