It’s a v6 with a bad 3-speed auto transmission. are the transmissions easy to replace, are the v6’s any good?

Spotted the "Death Racer"
Heard a loud car thinking it was another clown in an old covet, just to end up seeing a black Barstow going at least 100mph with no lights at all. I think it could be the Texas Death Racer from years back.
