IT background + interest in agri-tech — does a MSc in Green Energy & Sustainability make sense as a next step?
Background: MSc in IT, currently job hunting. Recently did a short 2-month course in Agripreneurship that got me genuinely interested in agriculture. Now considering another MSc in Green Energy and Sustainability, with the idea of eventually combining it with agri-tech (things like renewable energy in farming, sustainable food systems, agri-tech startups, etc.).
My question: Does this combination make sense from a career standpoint? Is a second MSc actually necessary to break into green energy/agri-tech, or could I get there through certifications, projects, or direct work experience instead — especially given I’m not currently employed?
Would love to hear from people already working in this space — is the job market realistic for someone pivoting from a pure IT background? Any regions or niches within green energy + agriculture that are especially promising right now?
