Microsoft Authenticator

Hello!!! I'm thinking of my next phone being a flip phone, but for certain apps and websites it's unavoidable to use Microsoft authenticator (for example, getting into my work emails as I work for the government). Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? How did you get around it? I've worked out alternatives for every other app I'd need/decided I just don't need it on my phone, but this one thing I just don't think I can get around :(

Hyperspecific Playlists

Ramble below, skip to the tl:dr for the links to the playlists if you don't wanna read it!

I really like making character playlists with songs in the characters' language, even though the only language I speak is English. Ends up taking me AGES but it's really rewarding. So far I've got Macaque and Wukong, I'll attach the links here!! I really like the idea of Wukong being into more rock/punk songs because, c'mon, he's the MOST 'stick it to the man!' Character ever. Macaque in my eyes would be the pretentious classical music fan who acts like every other genre is inferior, but really it's just comforting for him to hear songs he might have heard when he was alive. It'd be pretty jarring for everything to suddenly have changed, I think. Not to mention his hearing would make listening to a lot of genres really awful for him. But I also like him secretly listening to cheesy breakup songs and trying to hide it. If you're a Chinese speaker or know of any chinese songs that would fit these vibes, pleeeeeease recommend some!! I'm not picky on the dialect (cantonese, mandarin, etc.) So it's all free game :) and puhleeeeeeeeeeeease pls pls pls discuss your personal music headcanons in the comments, whether you agree with mine or not!!! The fandom feels almost dead sometimes and I NEED to talk to someone about these characters.

Baby butch advice from The Elders??

Alternative flair choice was discussion since this isn't something I've found to have a real cut and dry answer. Can any elder butches (I'm talking 40+) (not exactly elder I know, but predates the internet discourse era) speak on all the discourse I've been seeing on what it means to be butch, or all the rules around identifying as butch??? I've found generally the lesbian community is super nice everywhere but tiktok, where a lot of discourse revolves around who's 'allowed' to use what labels. People just seem kinda angry over there, I dunno. It's made me a little scared that if I use the term butch to describe myself I'm breaking a rule or something, can any elder butches speak on it?? Has the community always been like this?? Are there actually rules around whether or not you can identify as butch besides how you express your gender and how you feel???

For example I've seen people say that butches don't want flowers, and they don't want to be called beautiful girls, which I KNOW isn't right and it's weird and exclusionary but again. Elder Butches, I summon you to please speak your truth on this.

P.s. any more vintage book or literature recommendations I can read to do some research?? Bonus points if it's aussie specific :)

Claudia Isn't Getting Enough Nuance, I Think

I haven't seen The Vampire Lestat yet, but since its release I figured now is as good a time as any to start watching IWTV. I'm a little surprised by how the fandom discusses Claudia?? They treat her like she's a poor little baby who had zero agency in her life which seems a little odd to me. Watching the show, I figured one of the big points is that after living such a long life it's a given that you warp into at the very best a morally grey character. Nobody in the show is completely blameless.

I figured if Louis had burnt Lestat, he wouldn't have come back but the coven in Paris would have found and read Claudia's diaries anyway. If Louis hadn't gotten entangled with Armand, the coven might not have gotten jealous enough to dig into Claudia's secrets, but the seed of doubt was there from the beginning (Santiago's bitterness towards his maker getting killed would have never allowed him to discover Claudia's 'breaking the rules' and still let her live, and if Claudia had stayed with the coven they would have found out eventually.) If Claudia hadn't joined the coven, they would have been chased out of Paris, and she wouldn't have met Madeline. If Claudia hadn't been turned in the first place, she wouldn't have met Madeline.

It seems more like every character made really poor choices at one point or another, sometimes with good intentions, and it snowballed into something that was beyond everybody. That's one of the things I like about the show- it doesn't try to make anyone out to be a fully good person (... or vampire???) It just shows one of the consequences of immortality I hadn't really thought of before. With all the time in the world, memories get fuzzy and misconstrued and chances are they've done at least one terrible, terrible thing. I'd like to know others' thoughts, I haven't read the books which can sometimes give more context.

WHERE are you guys buying pants!?!?!?!?!

To preface, I am uniquely proportioned. I am short and stout, so even shopping in the women's section I either have pants that fit lengthwise but are way too tight, or they fit width wise but I have to hem them by a LOT. This is me essentially saying I can't shop in the men's section. I tried some men's pants on, but pants that generally would fit me in women's sizes I couldn't get over my hips.

I'm young and wanting to foray into looking more masculine because I'm starting to realise it makes me feel most comfortable, but most of my pants don't give me the straight down masculine look. They give me the HUGE ass look, pardon my French. This is not a flex. This is a cry for help. WHERE are you butches shopping because I do not want to live my life tailoring every pair of pants I own.

2008 Nissan Micra Window Regulator (?)

Hello Car Guy Community, I'm trying to learn more about cars so I can fix easy stuff myself for infinitely cheaper. Recently the back left window in my 2008 Nissan Micra won't go up when I press the button (both on the door itself and from the driver's side), and makes some nasty clicking noises. The window doesn't fall down the whole way luckily so I can just push it up with my hands when it falls and I'm parked somewhere. My Dad reckons sticky tape since it's an old car and not worth fixing, a friend reckons I take it somewhere and don't try fixing it myself, and my Uncle reckons it's worth trying to fix it. Can any Car Guys ™️ weigh in?? Is it worth trying to learn to fix myself or is it too risky???

(Just for some more added context I want to learn more about my own car because mechanics have ripped myself, my friends, and my sister off in the past and I just want to know how things work so I don't get ripped off again.)

Not enough silly Illari reaction pics out there. I made one based off this silly one I've seen around. I refuse to draw her whole complicated outfit because overwatch character designs are just so many layers, but here she is!!! Please comment with your fave illari reaction image, I wanna collect them :D
