Should I do it or would it be wrong?

So I’m a small content creator. Let’s Player/Streamer. I stream on twitch and I do some editing and put them up on YouTube.

Well I did a highlight video of me being really good at a game and I posted it, well there’s been this idea that’s been in my head since I decided to make this highlight video. A highlight video of the same game but all my flops, BUT to the audio of a Let’s player I follow of them joking about failing over and over.

Here’s the thing, it makes me laugh, I find it funny. I think others would find it funny and I wanna make them laugh. BUT, I don’t wanna come off like I’m riding this creators coattails or using their fame for my benefit.

So I don’t know if I should make it or not. My question is this, what do you think? Is this okay or is it crossing a line?

FYI, anytime I make a reference to an IP, and if I edit a small clip of some obscure thing I’m referencing into it for context, I always have text crediting the creator and a link to their video in the bio.

Example, I reference quote something from the series “doomsday arcade” like “he’ll never clear that slight obstacle” while my Batman is stuck on some random furniture, I’ll cut to that clip with text saying the name of the series.

I can’t believe this worked! Going from PS2 to my OBS on my computer with a stop at a pit stop at a VHS

I’m so happy this worked out! So I’m a video game streamer (hobby) and one game I’ve wanted to stream is Final Fantasy VII! As I have the original PS1 disks and a PS2, in my head, I saw it being presented as the old quality of the 90’s when it came out. I love practical effects so I didn’t want it to be captured in 1920x1080 and this a filter applied or it bit crushed and then filters added. So if I was gonna get that “recorded on VHS/NTSC” look I was gonna have to do it practically.

So what did I do? Well I have a VHS player and a vhs. I plugged my PS2 into my VHS PLAYER, and then from there into my TV via RCA Composite audio/video cables. I recorded the game on the VHS and my voice on my H4N Zoom. I recorded for an hour in a half.

After, I rewound the tape (BE KIND REWIND) and took the RCA Composite cables and attached them to a RCA Composite to USB device

And picked up the signal with OBS, then I captured the tape in real time.

I instantly had a problem. The playback was SUPER dark. I recaptured the video while boosting Contrast and Brightness, leaning more heavily on the Contrast than to Brightness because Brightness just made everything “white”.

So the blacks were way better but now the contrast was blowing the green out of control.

I put the digitally recorded footage into Adobe Premiere, and a slight reduction of green curves and hue vs stat brought it under control.

The last issue was the audio from the zoom (48,000 Hz) started in sync but at the end it was out of sync, so into Adobe Audition. A little toying with the Stretch effect and problem solved.

Back into Adobe Premiere. After that it was just simple editing splitting the footage up into three episodes.

So yes tons of extra steps, I COULD just attached the PS2 directly to my computer via the USB device but this gives me the visual vibe that I want, so I feel it’s worth it.

What do you think?
