No, it’s not abelist to use big words…

But you know what is? Assuming that disabled people don’t have the capacity to understand big words or learn what they mean. Thats not to say some can’t, but there are plenty who can.

Generalizing and infantilizing disabled individuals doesn’t take away from the fact there’s plenty of people with no disabilities who are functionally illiterate.

Walked out of an interview after waiting for almost 30 minutes.

Today I walked out of an interview before it even started. The manager had me wait for a little over 20 minutes. This was after she had called to reschedule the interview twice, both times on incredibly short notice. The second time, I was on my way to the interview (would’ve been 15 minutes early) when I got a call that “something came up”.

I don’t live in the immediate area, and today, I had the curtesy to let them know that while I left home early, I might be late due to construction on the road which caused traffic to back up. They said that was ok. I got there with maybe two minutes to spare, the receptionist invited me to have a seat and someone would be right with me.

So I’m waiting…no one comes out. I checked with the receptionist at the ten minute mark, and they said that they would be out in a minute. By fifteen minutes, I got a little annoyed. By twenty, I had went to my car to take a phone call from my partner.

The manager almost immediately called me to ask if I just walked out. Told her it was just to answer a quick call, she then asked if I had anywhere else to be and if I was still interested in the interview (by this mark, it was almost 25 minutes).

I will admit, looking back, I could’ve handled this better. But it was the way she said it that just got under my skin. Her tone was very dismissive and pretty rude. Thats when I got the impression that she was “testing” me. There was no apology or explanation for the long wait, and the fact that she immediately called when I stepped outside for a moment pretty much confirmed it was a test of sorts.

So after a moment of silence on my end, I said “No. Thank you for your time.” Immediately hung up, and went home. My time is very important to me. And I am more than certain that if I strolled in twenty five minutes or more late to the interview, I wouldn’t be considered for a position.

This isn’t a first time thing. I have had hiring managers “forget” about the interview, not show up, leave halfway through and most recently, I got sent an offer letter, just to have it rescinded after I already signed it.

Moral of the story, respect is a two way street. Do not let potential employers play mind games or waste your time. The workforce is the worst it’s been in years. I myself got laid off back in June from a job I had for five years, and since then, potential employers have just been on odd power trips because they know some people are in desperate need of work.

If they don’t value your time, they certainly won’t value you as an employee or an individual.

Don’t let people waste your time

Today I walked out of an interview after I had been sitting for almost 20 minutes. I live a little over an hour away and even had the curtesy to let them know ahead of time that I would possibly be late due to traffic. They said that was ok. I got there with maybe two minutes to spare, the receptionist invited me to have a seat and someone would be right with me. Cool.

So I waited, checked with the receptionist at the ten minute mark, and they said that they would be out in a minute. By fifteen minutes, I got a little annoyed. By twenty, I had went to my car to take a phone call from my partner. Very brief.

As I was going back, I got a call from the interviewer asking if I “just walked out”, and I let her know it was to answer a quick call. She then asked if I was still interested in the interview (by this mark, it was almost 25 minutes) and it’s not what she said but the way she said it that really bothered me. So after a moment of silence on my end, I said “No. Thank you for your time.” Hung up and left.

Could I have handled that better? Possibly, but my time is very important to me. These same people rescheduled the interview twice before due to “something coming up”. Had I made them wait 20+ minutes, it would’ve been completely unacceptable.

This isn’t a first time thing. I have had hiring managers “forget” about the interview, ghost me before or half way through and recently got sent an offer letter just to have it rescinded after I already signed it.

Moral of the story, do not let these people waste your time. If they don’t value your time, they certainly won’t value you as an employee or an individual.

Need two references for a front office manager position

Hello, I’m 31f and work in hospitality as a front desk supervisor and I was selected as the good fit for a recently opened position for front office manager at a job I applied to. I’ve been unemployed for a while now due to a lay off at my last job, which I had for almost five years so this is very exciting.

Unfortunately, two of my references fell through and I don’t know about the third one. I’m hoping that I can secure three that can contact the General manager via email to land the position if it’s possible.

I just need two references. I can give you a basic rundown on myself and the hiring managers email address via dm if it is necessary.

Thank you!

Unpopular opinion: Calling Tavii ugly isn’t “anti-black”.

Majority of people don’t find tavii attractive. A lot of ya’ll need to accept that.

It’s fine if you personally think she’s pretty but she’s not a conventionally attractive woman. While colorism/anti-blackness can be a contributing factor, let’s stop acting like thats the only reason people call her ugly.

DTB, Fania, Asian doll, bianca bonnie, Choco brown and SAPPHIRE, are all dark skinned women, and the fans all agree that, for the most part, they’re all beautiful.

Especially sapphire, she’s too gorgeous.

Dolly and summer are pretty too but the way they act makes them unattractive…and this also applies to tavii. Her speech, mannerisms, and energy are very abrasive and masculine. Her makeup doesn’t compliment her features, and her styling doesn’t really fit her either.

I don’t find tavii attractive at all. Majority of people don’t and thats ok. Calling a dark skinned woman ugly isn’t inherently colorist. If that’s the case, majority of ya’ll are. There’s plenty of posts and comments where people call dark skinned baddies they don’t like all types of ugly. In fact, not too long ago, Tavii was the target of this, I digress.

I will say that the misgendering isn’t funny, but I don’t recall this much vitrol when people were saying biggie was/is a man because of her voice and her bodyshape. Especially when Biggie isn’t ugly and has a very feminine style.

When you hold your hand out to give or receive something and the person puts/throws it on the table or counter

I get maybe you don’t want to touch someone’s hands, but it’s still really fucking rude. Especially when they throw it down and walk away.

Nyx espresso liner

Has anyone tried it? I saw that it has green undertones and is reasonably priced. I can’t justify spending 20+ on a single lip liner these days.

I’m a medium/medium tan cool olive for reference.

“Rhaenys’s dark hair made the bastard allegations ambiguous in the books”

Not to beat a dead horse, but why does team black keep saying this? When it’s easily debunked if you read the book?

Rhaenys had jet black hair, because her mom was a Baratheon. Besides that, she had violet eyes and Targaryen features.

Both her children had targ/velaryon features, as did her granddaughters.

They conveniently leave out the other details: the curly brown hair (not jet black—which is a very different color), brown eyes, pug noses, “common features” and strapping builds.

(Dis)honorable mentions:

“Harwin’s appearance wasn’t described”

Yes it was, just indirectly.

“They could’ve got it from Aemma!”

Aemma’s appearance isn’t described, but the artwork commissioned by george all depict her with the Targaryen look. Also, arryn’s aren’t known to have dark hair.

“All babies have pug noses!”

Except they had the pug noses their entire lives. Laenore had a aquiline nose. And even if you ignore that, how do you explain the brown eyes? The common features when both parents features are distinctive of their ancestry? Their builds? Ok.

“The greens allegations could’ve had her sons killed!”

And…whose fault is that exactly?

“Let people enjoy things”

I get why people started saying this, but it’s definitely used out of context now.

Someone could be expressing why they’re not a fan of something and the replies will have this verbatim. Or they do like it, but are expressing aspects they didn’t like/could do without, and they get hit with this.

How does someone having a different opinion stop you from enjoying something? If thats all it takes to ruin the experience, maybe you aren’t actually enjoying it.

Prank videos

Listen, I’m all for a good laugh. My siblings and I had our own prank war growing up. But the big thing about pranks is…they’re generally harmless and funny.

Most prank videos are neither. There’s a big difference between a harmless prank and committing a serious crime.

Tampering with someone’s food? Thats not funny, and depending on the substance used, you could get in serious legal trouble should they press charges.

Pretending to kidnap someone’s infant? (Yes, I saw a prank video where some dickhead took a car seat with a baby inside off of a shopping trolley. Made the mom chase after them) Yeah thats not funny, and depending on the person, you could catch charges and hands behind that.

I could go on but, most of these recorded pranks aren’t funny. Not at all.

People who assume everything is AI

I mean really:

Proper grammar/spelling? AI

Proper punctuation? AI

Person made a point to split up their paragraphs? Obviously AI slop!1!1!1

Do they not realize that this assumption says more about them than the person accused?
