How do I get the most out of my credit before it expires?

About a year ago, I received $200 of DO credit through the GitHub Student Pack. Now, DO decided that they are no longer collaborating with GitHub Education, therefore every credit obtained through it will expire at the end of this month. I haven't used much of it yet, so I wonder if there's a way to cash out, transfer, or otherwise quickly use up all credit without cryptomining.

What is the "Other" category under "Capital Expenses"?

In every game I've played so far, I've always spent €600 every year for "Other Expenses". I've searched in the wiki but couldn't find anything about it, so does anybody know where this money goes?

[AvA 8] How did Yellow know the password?

I know that I am 5 years late to this, but how did Yellow know the password of The Dark Lord's console? I know Yellow is good at programming, but here they're not even hacking it, they just seem to know the password. Nobody is talking about it so I'm sure I missed something, but I couldn't find anything even after rewatching the previous episodes.

ELI5: Why can't Google bypass OEMs for Android updates like any other OS developer does?

The question might sound dumb, but I don't get it. Every PC operating system I know gets the same updates on every device. Manufacturers don't need to do anything, when Microsoft releases a new version of Windows, every device that meets the hardware requirements gets the update at the same time. The same goes for every Linux distro I've used so far, sudo apt upgrade installs updates simultaneously on every device, be it a gaming PC or a Raspberry Pi.

However, the same can't be said about the most widespread mobile OS, Android. It's a chaotic mess, with every new version there's a line of very specific supported phones that gets extended a bit over the year following the release, but a lot of phones get left behind. Furthermore, this does not only affect feature updates but also security patches (I only get 2 patches per YEAR, which is way too few).

I've read various articles explaining Android's layered approach, but I still don't understand it. Isn't it the same on PCs? Why can I build a gaming PC with my own components and install the latest Windows 11 on it, but a retail phone needs special configurations to run Android? It's not like every update bring groundbreaking changes to the core of the OS that require a full rewrite of the drivers.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Difference between 25H2, 26H1, and Future Platforms in the Beta channel

I have received the new Windows Insider experience in the Beta channel, but I don't understand the advanced options. I can select 3 versions of Windows, and while I see different changelogs for these versions in the Experimental channel, the Beta channel has the same features on all three... so what's the point? I initially thought it's related to rollouts, but once we get Feature Flags (btw when are getting them, they've been announced a month ago) that won't make sense anymore. So is it just to preview kernel changes? If yes, why are they all getting the same builds?

I probably misunderstood something, but I find the documentation about those options very confusing, as it looks like they only do something in the Experimental channel.

Windows deleted all my custom themes after an update. Fuck Microsoft.

Yesterday, I installed an update called "Windows 11, version 25H2". Per se, this is already weird enough, since I've been running that version for almost a year by now. Today, when I booted up my PC, I noticed that ALL my custom themes are completely gone! I've also looked in the themes folder under AppData, nothing. This piece of shit of an operating system just decided to wipe all the themes I had made, with custom cursors, sounds, everything.

Now, it's probably going to take about five minutes to restore them, but I'm pissed at what passes testing nowadays, because it wasn't even an Insider build, it was a STABLE version! Does this mean that now I can expect every update I install to break something? What's next? Is Windows 26H2 going to delete all my browser bookmarks? In 27H2, maybe it's my Passkey's turn.

Oh, and while I was writing this post, I also noticed that my fingerprint reader has stopped working. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware failure, since I've never moved my computer in the last few days, and the Device Manager still detects it. Now I'm going to install Debian and see if it works there. Regardless of that, I'm going to stay on Linux. Tired of a multibillon dollar company that tests their OS worse than a community of volunteers.

Update: I managed to find my themes in the Windows.old folder, so no data is lost, it was just annoying to find. It still sucks tho, and I've found no solution for the fingerprint reader, but that's matter for another post.
