6th Street Chaos Agent

Did anyone else encounter the loon in the silver/grey SUV driving south on 6th Street this morning around 8 a.m. on the wrong side of the road.

I barely avoided a head on collision near PortersHouse/KennedyChicken. Looked like they carried on down the wrong lane toward the Hamilton School zone and the capitol complex.

Cannot convince myself whether it was distracted driving, impaired driving or assholery alone.

Must have been a combination to have acheived this exhibition of pure distilled idiocy.

2011 Juke

Have never owned a Nissan. For.... reasons, I now find myself owner of a 2011 Juke with about 80k. I know the owner history and think it has received consistant routine maintenance and received some engine work as part of a 2014 recall. It has a janky aftermarket backup camera that is at least 10 years old too.

l dont care about looks

I dont care about 'noise'

I kinda like the minimalism

I wont be driving in snow and ice.

I intend to use it as my local driver (less than 20 miles per day typ)

I would like to get another 80k out of it.

Any must do/strictly avoid advice specific to living with this year and model?

Green Street Situation

The owner of the Mercedes with Rhode Island plates parked under the herons nest on Green Street might want to check in on the situation and reassess.

Summer arrives in Harrisburg

Some people say summer starts on Memorial Day...others say it arrives at the Summer Solstice. For Harrisburg, it isn't really summer until there is heron shit on Green Street. Summer has arrived!!

Five Foot Shelf ides

Have you ever heard of Eliot's '5 Foot Shelf', the "Harvard" Classic collection of some 19th century white guy's idea of essential knowledge and/or canon?

Well, I am not enamored with all of those classics. But I do wish we each kept our own 5 foot shelf. Like, if you came to my house full of books there would be one tasty selection of texts adding up to 60" thickness that serves as a personal portrait of me. Maybe not just my favorite reads, but the books that define and explain my life lived, aspiriations anmd regrets. It MIGHT have classic novels or sacred texts, but it could also have cookbooks, unread gift books of sentimental value, how-to books, old text books with handwritten notes in the margins...etc.

And when I came to your place, I could see YOUR 5 foot shelf. Maybe we'd have some selections in common, maybe not. And that would be okay.

And of course, over time some text would be displaced as our we chanhe as people.

So, now my point: I want such a bookcase. A self supported bookcase that to serve to display precisely 60 inches worth of my own personal 5 foot shelf in an inviting and aesthetical pleasing and unique way.

I'm looking for DIY or other available bookcase units that would serve fornthis purpose. Suggestions?

Biking into Gatineau Park

I will be on my own(mostly) in Ottawa for a week in June. Thinking of renting a bicycle to visit some of the Gatineau park landmarks on at least one day, weather permitting.

What are some spots that are directly accessible by bike? Or conversely, are there desigated spots where I can safely secure a bike to explore some trails on foot?

Multiversal Timeline Hooterville Edition

Does anybody know of an EXISTING resource that lays out the timeline that connects all episodes of the BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, PETTICOAT JUNCTION and GREEN ACRES (1962 to 1971) including crossover episodes and specials.withing that span.

As you sometimes see with Marvel or Star Wars. Let's call ot the Druckerverse.

It would be a tremendous help in talking me out of a bad idea I just had!
