The rest of the crew, (Paulie, Bobby, Christopher, Vito, Etc) were all complete Stunads and as the show goes on you realize how dumb and incompetent they all are. Ralph actually does his job really well despite how much of a loose cannon he is. He’s the highest earner for a reason and no surprise that when Tony and him work together on the HUD scam, it’s by far the most effective one in the show

If you look at all his decisions made while boss from seasons 2-6, his asset management was terrible. He inherited a solid group of earners but he didn’t make any attempts to develop the younger guys, and basically got rid of anyone actually valuable to the family so by the end of the show, his top guys were the calzone with legs Bobby bacala and Paulie. Not to mention giving Christopher a million chances despite him being an unreliable junkie most of the show, and also ignoring Tony B’s red flags and trusting him too much when he first started showing how chaotic he was

The Good moves he made were signing Furio. Getting European talent was a great find, but Tony never seemed to actually appreciate him past season 2 and didn’t care that furio’s dad died. Ralphie was also his top earner and he gets rid of him over a horse. He Also handled the Vito situation terribly. Vito had major off court issues, but he was still a top earner the family lacked since Ralphie, and Tony even commented how Carlo made 3x less than him afterwards. At the very least he could’ve done a better job at protecting him from Phil
