No dogs should be out in this heat.

Left* outside for. More than 10 minutes in 100°+ heat is animal cruelty. Just fyi.

Walmart Weights and Measures coming in 1/4 of a pound too low on every meat product.

This guy weighs stuff in grocery stores and has found that this Walmart is coming in under on almost all meat products.

Is it possible to change flights for the second leg of a layover?

My seconds flight out of Denver is delayed by 4 hours. Is it possible to choose another flight out if it’s available ? The app doesn’t give me the option. (I have Choice if that matters.)

Was Ben a heavy drinker before Ruby died?

(Amazon T.V. series) Ben said he was at the bar getting drunk with friends and that’s why he could not save Ruby. We see a flashback of The Spider reaching for her while she drowned but is that a real memory or his own guilty imagination?

I guess I thought of the alcohol as him coping with her loss but then I realized the show implies it was a problem well before. What do we think?

I hate these kinds of storms worse than the tornado ones

My biggest anxiety is losing electricity in 100° weather. Currently kotv is joining so in and out it’s basically useless.

Good luck everyone.

What would "Full Spider" Ben look like?

This is just a fan-fic pondering kind of question, I guess but I would love to know what the 'urges' and other Spider behaviors Ben had to repress after the bite would be?

I would love to know more about the time, directly after the bite, when he was under the care of the Army "Doctors" aka Scientists, were examining him to how or when he was released back into civilian life. Did he lose his memory, speech, and just crawl around walls?

Presumably - this would be post-war but before he was able to get back with Ruby? Did she help him get back to his human side?

How does everyone imagine this time period?

Loose dog on the BA this evening

Around 7:15 pm today there was a huge slow down in the BA headed west just past Harvard. Turns out there was a small loose dog running down the MIDDLE of the standstill - and that’s was caused the jam! People were opening their doors to try and catch this little dog’s attention but it was moving at a solid trot and not stopping for anyone. 😩.

If anyone here saw this scene and happens to have any updates - I’d love to hear of the dog was rescued!

Can we discuss the visual motifs and other details?

From the opening shot. I love how often the key light makes his blue eyes look so dark but shiny like a spider. There are so many good visual motifs in this show.

Mirrored perspectives. Framed views - like the rear view mirror- that give the illusion a of a performer on the screen. Cat and Ben seen through the mirror in multiple shots. And of course the opening credits.

I’d love to hear what other people noticed in visual references or motifs.

Are Ben's tics and "Impulses" as WWI PTSD metaphor

I would love to see some elaboration on the "tics and impulses" that Ben said he has to fight to suppress after the bite. I understand that the idea of him learning from movies was a later addition to the character that worked well to explain the meta-noire voice of this performance, but it works well on deeper levels than just a character quirk.

WWI was a unique turning point in military and social history. Before WWI, if a soldier was hit by a bullet or stabbed, odds are he died or survived, but that's it. "The Great War" introduced new and advanced weapons, gas, as well as medicine and science to keep soldiers alive*, for better or for worse.* Soldiers were coming back home mauled, disfigured, mentally and physically debilitated.

I read the "powers" in this universe as a great metaphor for this kind of trauma.

When we see Ben at the Army base after the bite, his body is coiling up. It jerks and twitches uncontrollably, and we're told that he is in a "great deal of pain,". At this point he can still talk and communicate.

But when he told Cat he went to the movies to "learn how to be human," it implies that at some point he had lost complete control of his body and his ability to communicate altogether. Maybe he lost his ability to speak after he left the base?  Like with Sandman and Tombstone, did the side effects of his condition get worse while he was being treated by that sinister looking team of "doctors" and "scientists" in the army tent?

But mostly, I wonder if those tics still and always painful for him? What "impulses" does he have to fight off? I'm curious what people's take is on the physical aspects of this Spider's origin story?

Nicolas Cage discusses Film-Noir, and the method he chose for Ben’s mannerisms and voice.

I have read some criticism of Nick Cage’s exaggerated New York 1930 accent in the series. I myself felt like it was a Meta-Style reference to this and somewhat postmodern choice. Then I found this interview and I see that I feel validated in my interpretation. In any event, this is a really great interview where he is allowed to talk at length about his methods and his style of acting and where he gets his inspiration from. The bit around spider noir starts about 17:45.

PSA: Watch out for this speed trap in South Tulsa.

This is just a heads up if you haven't found out yet. Going south on Yale, the brand new block between 81st and 91st is 100% designated speed trap.

Every main road going to and from that particular stretch is 40 miles an hour: Yale north of 81st, and South of 91st is 40 MPH. 91st East and West of Yale is 40 MPH (minus the school zone of course.) 40 always has been the regular speed in this area.
The new section has 6 lanes, a huge median, very few turn offs, and a very steep hill to climb up and over and yet they tagged it with a 35 MPH Speed Limit for no logical reason.

The cops hang out at the bottom of the hill going South —as there are no public street turnoffs up to that point - and they've been making $$$BANK$$$ every weekday morning for a couple weeks now. Because no one is going down that hill expecting it to be 5 miles LESS than every other main road.

So watch out if you're headed that way.

Cop took a picture of my vin number?

First off, Cops are out on Yale between 81st and 91st. Catching people on the hill going South. I got caught, my bad. He was nice enough to let me go under the 'insurance limit'. so I'm not complaining.

He said he already had my insurance by running the tag. However, I had to get out and get my wallet out my bag in the back seat and while doing so he scanned the VIN number in my door. I've never seen that happen before. Why would he need to do that?

Tulsa 311 app is USELESS

I have tried to reset my password three times now and I still can’t get in. Is there anyone actually monitoring the app? Never mind the fact that I’ve never actual results from any complaints filed about streetlights, overgrown lawns, illegal parking in the etc. what is the point of this thing?

So I will ask the question here: is it legal for someone to park their semi trailer flatbed in a residential neighborhood?

I lost touch with this friend or I would ask her about it. She was a professional gardener. She once posted on her Instagram an image of her personal garden where she had used pantyhose oncer the young tomatoes to keep squirrels and birds of them.

She always had a huge crop.

Has anyone here heard of such a thing or am I misremembering this?

There are a large majority of people who rely on energy oil, stocks, and well business. Why are people more worried about what’s happening? I’m seriously questioning whether or not I should be selling my stocks right now.

I’m reading opinions that say as it is even if they opened the strait right now today, it would still be as bad as the embargo in the 70s. I don’t understand why our congressman and senators are allowing Trump to do this to us.

To anyone who has recieved a survey abotu energy prices, or data centers etc.

Have you noticed how they're not asking, "What are your concerns..." they're asking, "What do you know about (xyz)?" or "What have you been told..."? etc.

They don't mention water use. They mention prices. and It's certainly never about whether we WANT one or not, because they know it's wildly unpopular. It seems to me they're trying to find a way to sell the idea and want to know what damage control they have to invest it.

I live near a 100+ year old cemetery which was originally a small black town's graveyard but has since been overrun by the city and the suburbs. It has long since been a general use but there is a large minority population. I have never seen such a compact and diverse graveyard. All religions, all races. It's an easy path for me to walk and I'm always curious about all the different kinds of headstones. Many of them are in different languages. There's even and Muslim section facing off-kilter from the rest (towards mecca).

The other day I noticed a myriad of brand new headstones for one particular family. Almost a dozen new markers, all same stone, all similar cut, all crammed together. The range of deaths spanned from 2018 -2022 so I doubt it was a mass casualty. It could have been COVID, I guess but what struck me as unusual is that they all seemed to have been placed at the same time.
My question is this; is it common for a family or group of people to buy ALL their headstones -all at once for older graves?

Then I looked around I began to notice several new markers across the graveyard for older graves. I would assume these were unmarked previously and the families finally had a change to install them - but ... literally all in the same season?

It seems odd to me. Almost as if the graveyard had a flash-sale or something. Is this a thing that happens?
