How well do foam bass traps work in a listening environment?

I am planning to build a couple booths and treat rooms acoustically for listening. Acoustic paneling made from mineral wool is very expensive and foam bass traps are very cheap so I am planning on using them. One of my teachers said they do not have any effect on actual acoustics which I am not so quick to believe because otherwise why make them, right? If I am ignorant please enlighten me in the most informational way possible. I need to know well what im dealing with and what to expect in cost for room treatment.

How well do foam bass traps work?

I am planning to build a custom recording booth and treat rooms for listening and recording and I need to know if foam traps work at all. I was informed by one of my mixing teachers that they do absolutely nothing and I am hoping he is wrong for the sake of expenses. Please tell me if he is right or wrong and how.

Abandoned motel on sunset blvd in hollywood.

Old motel all the Rockstars use to stay at on sunset. Definitely exposed myself to asbestos for a few seconds on these pics.

Dead zones and sensitivity question.

I use a controller to play battlefield 6 and I operate a sniper rifle and assault rifle setup in redsec. I like to be able to touch people from far away even with my AR but it is ridiculously difficult with high sensitivity on controller and I dont want to have to switch to key and mouse yet. Is it possible to setup my controls so that the center area of the joystick range is lower sensitivity than the outer range? I believe it is called acceleration but I have not seen this in the BF6 settings. I know zoom sensitivity can be seperately adjusted for each level of zoom but that is not what im looking for. If you have an answer for me, please enlighten me.

What nice restaurant near LACMA or the miracle mile that doesnt exceed 150 for two can you suggest for a date on friday?

Going out with a very nice woman first date in our thirties not into drinking just trying to achieve the right atmosphere for a good night and possibly more good nights. Not rich, poor, not trying to look poor, and trying to have a nice dinner in a nice cute space. Planned on LACMA for the music show and art, and the restaurant I want is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE (republique). Any suggestions close to the museum without completely breaking me?
