Lost my account because of the latest update <3

"No Linked Data"

So, yeah, I didn't link my account to Bandai or whatever. This is also the first update to erase(?) my player data for some reason. Wish I'd been told this could happen.

Guess we're not playing anymore 'cause I see no way of retrieving my profile with my (TLv123 btw) tamer name alone...

Thank you so much you incompetent DEVS<3

👋 Damos-te as boas-vindas! — Vem procurar colega de casa 🤝

Bem-vindos ao r/FlatmatesLisboa!

Olá! O meu nome é Kith e sou o primeiro moderador desta comunidade.

Quick theory before ch.350 and Ego's actual goal

Food 4 thought above all.

Ego never expected his philosophy to win the world cup, or any cup.
The 2nd time it was hinted at that was him almost giving up during the BL11 x U20JP. The 1st was his admission of the most egoistic players (and Chigiri's posterior observation that they didn't all win cups).

They are his 1st test subjects after all, even if they turn out to be Japan's best investment, since, well EVER.

Neither did he expect to have manage so many players aiming to be #1. He wanted (in practice) to sacrifice 299 players to then put a single egoist guiding the Japanese team, and have that 1 spark evolution within his teammates and what not.
I think he's just trying to see were this experiment will get Japan, for the sake of his curiosity.

I'm 95% sure that the training he gave each player wasn't to make them #1 striker in BL, not besides the TOP5 (Isagi, Rin, Shidou, Barou, XXX).

And the last match proved how Suitability is as valid a theory as Ego, and how they compliment each other, though not quite like the genius/learner dichotomy. Both theories are incomplete but compatible.

Also, we are in dire need to cut the cast. I'm sure it's gonna happen sooner rather than later. For the sake of the story's quality. I think that the players that adopt a mostly-suitability driven philosophy will have some more development this cup, but then be mostly sidelined. Some might have an egoistic epiphany later on, but not all, as that will work kinda like any other awakening of a deuteragonist.

Edit 1: How likely is it that BL will tie with England just for Kaneshiro to be able to say that BLis not that strong yet?

Edit 2, post ch350: Okay I feel like I predicted Ego's "I wanted to do it this way , no matter how crazy it is" up there...

Is Cyclops black-coded?

A disclaimer is in order: I'm not a hardcore X-Men reader.

I understand the mutant metaphor is broader than race/ethnicity/xenophobia and that the politics of the various mutant factions can become increasingly complicated, contradictory and messy in a long-lived timeline.

That said, with Cyclops somewhat soon to receive a live-action adaptation in MCU's Mutant Saga, I keep coming back to the same thought:

I've always found him pretty Black-coded.

Consider the position he occupies in X-men stories.

If you accept a decently common fan-reading of Professor X as Martin Luther King Jr. and Magneto as Malcolm X, then Cyclops eventually becomes the synthesis of both traditions: a idealistic leader forced into practical experience as a soldier, tactician and political leader.

More importantly, Cyclops embodies a tension that feels familiar to me, steming from Black political history. He begins as the model minority: disciplined, respectable, controlled, diplomatic (a boy scout, similar to Captain America) and constantly aware that his actions reflect upon his entire community.

He cannot simply be Scott Summers. He is always expected to represent mutants. A burden that defines him, right?

As his stories progress, however, he becomes increasingly frustrated with the expectation that mutants must endlessly prove they are harmless while facing a world predisposed to fear them. He never fully abandons diplomacy, but neither does he remain the perfect boy scout he once was.

That trajectory—from respectability politics toward a more assertive and sometimes controversial form of leadership—is part of why Cyclops read as Black-coded to me.

Whether that was intentional or not is another question.

But because of that, a Black or biracial actor playing Cyclops would not feel like a radical departure from the character. If anything, it would highlight themes that have already been present in him for decades.

Not that Disney would ever acknowledge that but... Does anyone in this sub feel this way?
