What would you do? SAHM or Corporate Life

Prefacing this with feeling very thankful that I’m in this situation and have these choices.

In November 2025 I gave birth to our first child and had 6 months of maternity leave. In April of 2026 while on leave still I was given a massive promotion and now make $200k annually. My benefits are free and I recognize I had a wonderful maternity leave. I returned to work in May.

For childcare, my mother watches the baby during the week. I work a high-stress consulting job with monthly travel.

My husband is an executive and makes $300k+ annually. We would like to have at least 1 more, potentially 2 more children. He has asked me if I would like to quit and become a SAHM.

I loved my 6 months home with our first child and do get sad that I don’t get to spend every day with her, especially as she approaches her first birthday and I realize how quickly she’s grown in the first year alone. Work takes out a lot from me and sometimes after work I find myself secretly counting down the minutes to bedtime so I can rest. It feels wrong to me.

On the other hand, I make really good money and worked really, really hard to get this huge promotion. Our household salary will cut by almost half if I do quit. My industry will be hard to return to if I take a break in my career. And I don’t know what toddler years are like or what having several kids will be like.

I’m afraid I’ll regret my decision, either way. Welcome any insights or advice. Thank you!

Garden formal wedding in a vineyard

Long time lurker, first time poster!

Going to a wedding in August at a vineyard in California. The theme is “Garden Formal” which is a first for me. I have this dress already, would it work?

(Not worried about the white / being too white, just wondering about if it fits the dress code)

If your first was a golden baby - did you pay the price with your second?

Not to say she didn’t have her struggles (jaundiced, never latched so I had to EP) but my daughter has been STTN since week 9, never had a diaper rash or eczema, had no issues transitioning to formula, no allergies and is a genuinely happy baby. Rarely cries and is a wonderful traveler.

My husband and I joke all the time that she’s the golden child that convinces you it’ll be easy to have another and so I was curious, if your first was like this, did your second make up for it? 😂

Wait for me

What I’ve noticed in the first year of parenthood is a constant waiting game…waiting to see what they look like when they’re born, waiting to hear their first laugh, waiting to hear their first words…and so I wrote this poem at 3am while rocking my daughter to sleep and wanted to share.

Wait for me
I see a flicker of life
On the ultrasound screen
Wait for me
I feel you say
And so I do

Our eyes lock at 2am
In a bout of your cries
I wonder what you’re trying to tell me
Wait for me
I feel you say
And so I do

Tiny toddler arms and feet
Desperately try to get away from mine
I can’t hold you as easily as I once did
I secretly wish you would grow up
Wait for me
I feel you say
And so I do

The car door slams
You’re off to summer camp
My eyes well with tears and you notice
Wait for me
I hear you say
And so I do

The phone rings
Your flight is delayed
We haven’t seen you in a few months
Wait for me
I hear you say
And so I do

I’m on my deathbed
You’re here, holding my hand
My eyes close and I start to drift
Go, mom. And wait for me
I hear you say
And so I will

Reliable home cleaners?

Hi everyone,

Moving to the Pinery area soon and will need to find new home cleaners for monthly home cleans. Anyone have a business they recommend?

Thank you!
