Day 1. Here’s my plan. Tips or cheerleading welcome.

Today is first day of my postpartum rehabilitation plan. I am 5 weeks PP today. Pregnancy was not easy, I had severe SPD/PGP which caused me to be pretty sedentary for the last 3 months. I had a huge baby, a planned C-section and my OB/GYN said my abs were quite unusually far apart and “she did what she could”. This was my second pregnancy, both large, both resulted in a four finger separation. 😟 the weight gain is making me feel a bit downbeat. Here is my daily plan.

Exercises for intra abdo pressure management/
- Diaphragm breathing, expanding the ribs and transverse app engagement, X10.

- Knees bent, gentle rotation of one leg out to the side to stabilise pelvis, X 10.

- very gentle heel slides with transverse ab engagement, X5 each leg.

- Side lying clam shells, X8 each leg.

- very gentle glute bridges, not yet adding resistance, X8
Stretches: cat-cow, happy baby. I plan to do 10 morning and early evening.

Later, after doctor approval
add hypopressive breathing but I can’t do that until I’m fully healed inside

Diet
i’m not breastfeeding, but I’m going to aim to reduce calories by reducing my cookie and chocolate addiction LOL. I’m planning on adding protein through eggs, nuts, Greek yoghurt yet not limiting all treats. I don’t drink soda and I don’t drink much alcohol at all.

What would you add? Particularly keen to hear from women who used to be petite and gained weight or, women who had a very severe DR

Sleep hygiene for newborn - when and what to do?

My beautiful baby is five weeks old and chunking up well. Obviously he’s so tiny so I’m only interested in very general sleep hygiene and when it may realistically begin. Between about 3am and 4.30 a.m. he is wide-awake. He’s looking around the room, and when we have finished the feed, we turn off the light, but he seems upset about being in the dark. Even though I can reach out my hand and soothe them in the next to me crib he just wants a long cuddle. He would prefer the light being on but then neither parent can sleep.
I hate him feeling lonely so obviously I’m giving him the comfort that he needs between feeds but just wondered realistically when we might be able to start introducing daylight/ dark? Or him being less frightened of the dark/being awake for such long periods in the night? Am I right to think it’s about eight weeks?

Psychology and strategy question - when to offer another WP email? Or not (LIP)

I’m moving from using a solicitor in pre-action / ACAS to becoming a LiP now we’re in litigation. This due to exhausting my budget. Wanted to ask if and when you’d offer another WP email offer to settle or would you now let litigation run its course for a bit? (NW England, disability discrimination and unfair dismissal)

Background:
R solicitor is aggressive and vehemently denies claim’s merit. I’ve had my claim assessed by a barrister (at ET1 stage) who thought it was decent but hinges on credibility and will turn on a timing issue that will only be outed in Disclosure.

They’ve sent cost warnings and ‘evidence’. They’re representing a private company who won’t have been through anything like this before, protective of their reputation, think cult-like tech co.

Current situation is waiting for their ET3. Do I bother reaching out with another without prejudice letter? Even though they have rejected 3 previous attempts by my solicitor in prelitigation? Or do I just sit back and wait a bit longer? My Hearing date is late 2027 (England & Wales)

How do I get a four-year-old to follow any instruction? Always late for daycare

My son is sweet and comical and lovely and busy. But I’m going to need your tips and hacks – Dr Becky, anything – for for getting him to follow a bit more of a routine on a morning. At the moment it’s taking us maybe 15 times of asking him to get dressed, brush his teeth and get his shoes on. We are getting to nursery/daycare at 9.50am which is just too late. He starts at school in a few months and he can’t be late for that.

We are both exasperated and realise that our technique of asking over and over and over again just isn’t working. Quite often he will just shrug “don’t want to” or will start pulling a new toy. Granted, we have a new baby, but this has been going on since before the baby was born. We are giving our eldest so much extra attention and affection and just trying to normalise the new family situation. He’s really excited about his new sibling but we just don’t know how to better incentivise him to do simple ‘up for the day’ things. Some days he’s not removing his pull-up until 9am (ew), or brushing his teeth until 11 am and then it’s become a fight and then we feel as parents that we’ve lost control.

We’ve done lots of little talks and tried to explain it. We’ve done lots of clapping and rewarding when he has done it without asking. Not sure what else to try because I hear mixed reviews about reward charts and things like that. Any psychology experts, let me know!

Reminder to always wash your purchases when they arrive

…. because the seller told me this was “washed and ready to go.” And yet when I soaked it in my sink….🤮

Shipping labels won’t open. Is it an iOS problem?

Argh I’ve sold several items in the last 72 hours and on half of them, the shipping label won’t generate / open. It says Get Shipping Label but then all I get is a few seconds of the progress wheel and it stops. Anyone else have this? It’s since I changed my iPhone to the new iOS. I have:

- contacted Vinted. Rubbish. They said payment hadn’t gone through from the buyer or ‘check your email for the label’ (even though you don’t get emailed the label!)

- turns phone on and off again a few times.

- quit the app and reopened.

Any ideas?
EDIT - people are correct, it’s something to do with this new Royal** Mail option. Both of my buyers confirmed that they’ve selected a cheaper option when they checked out, a cost-effective Royal mail label. None of them** work. I don’t know why Vinted isn’t doing something about this *issue as it seems widespread. (I was able to print from the desktop version and not my phone, but that’s not going to be convenient long-term.)*

Why would they admit this? Or is it immaterial?

I guess this is a psychology question. I’m in a sex discrimination case in NW England. I’m about to submit ET1 after settlement attempts and ACAS didn’t achieve anything. The respondent’s solicitor has pre-emptively sent what they consider their defence. It is a list of feedback they say that they gathered about me and which I never saw. Two of the comments are “her priorities around family often take precedent over finishing the work when we have a late night deadline”, and “ She often leaves at 5:30 and announces that she’s going to attend her child’s bedtime - even if we have a piece of work to finish*”*

I was embarrassed reading this. I never left unreasonably early and I always picked up work on the train between 5-6pm. So factually it’s incorrect but contextually – my claim is about how I was penalised as a female employee who is also a mother*.* FYI, they also refused my flexible working request on the grounds that it would be “upsetting” to male members of staff. I’m curious why they would admit this? I’m not suggesting it’s a smoking gun but doesn’t it look obvious? Or is there a smart reason that they might have included this to try and throw me off*?*

What is biting me in our bedroom (but only me)?

I’m in the UK. Something is biting me (but not my partner), in our bedroom. The bedroom is cleaned every week and the sheets are washed hot. I’m freaking out.
The bites are
- on the back of my neck
- inner elbow
- inner knee

The bites are usually a double hit but the one on my knee is a triple bite. Always itchy, small, white raised head.
Our cat is flea treated monthly and we have no other pets. I can’t see any bugs with the naked eye.
Not sure if it’s the bed, or furniture or something in my wardrobe (which is a bit too stuffed), and that might be why it’s only biting me, and our car sometimes sleeps in there? Pls help! If it’s bed bugs I’m confused because we are so clean and we haven’t been in a hotel recently.
If it’s fleas, again I still don’t understand because our cat only goes out twice a week and she’s pretty on track for her flea medication from the vet.

Anyone here get bleeding ther came back or was off again on again? I had pretty okay bleeding in the hospital and it stopped completely after five days total. Then I had a bit of discharge that had tiny yellow bits in it.
But now at day 15-16 I’ve been bleeding quite a lot today. I’ve been changing a normal sanitary pad every two hours. It coincides with me doing a lot more exercise and probably overdoing it.
No other symptoms and midwife said it sounds normal (no odor) but did anyone else get this?

Can anyone kind and smart help me understand a heuristic for what your ET1 pleading is best for compared with your witness statement compared with disclosure? A simple way to think about what to save and what to use upfront?

For info: I have my ET1 drafted by Chambers but I’ve ran out of money and will need to do the rest as an LIP. It’s a discrimination case, but it will rest on credibility of whether the judge believes that some new information that they’ve produced against me proves that they were going to fire me anyway. I’m asking this because I’m wondering whether to pre-empt or head off some of their defence in the ET1 that directly relate to the legal heads of claim, or save it for the witness statement? I worry that it could get into a he said, she said office politics thing.

Thanks

We always intended to combination feed. My baby has been in and out of NICU the past week and is just over one week old. We were discharged but then had to go back in. Because of the stress I was only ever able to hand express a bit of colostrum in the first 24 hours, after that baby had maybe two breastfeeds a day where it looked like pale white/clear liquid was coming out.Because I am very injured from the birth and I’ve had a lot of separation and finding it very very hard uncomfortable and not that enjoyable to breastfeed.

Tiredness meant that for less few days we have exclusively formula fed. Do you think that two days (48h) off the breast will have dried my milk up? It’s such a struggle, she gets frustrated and yet when I formula feed, I feel like I’m actually feeding baby what she needs. But I feel like I’ve also failed already and would love to be able to latch. I wish you could give a breastfeed snack once a day, but I know it doesn’t work like that. Sorry a bit lost. Baby’s had 3 checks for tongue tie by different infant feeding specialists and we were told “no”, “no” and 1 “maybe mild”. I have flat nipples and can only get a latch with shields to elongate them.
