My dress was ordered in the wrong size by the stylist at the shop, now I'm stuck trying to find something last minute.

I am a size 22-24, and the shop I went to measured and wrote measurements in the order. I tried on a 22 which fit basically perfectly with a couple exceptions, so we were going to order a size 24. The stylist ordered a size 20, and I didn't know. It just arrived, and i found out at my alterations appointment. I'm furious. I returned the dress, and my aunt payed for it. They're not wanting to give her her $200-300 tip back. They admitted it was their mistake and were really apologetic, wanted me to come in to try on more dresses they had in shop, etc.

I can't believe someone could be so careless. Maybe she had things going on in life. We all make mistakes, but this one absolutely screwed me over. I didn't even like the dress, wasn't excited about it, just wanted to be done dress shopping. I don't want to put another 10+hours of effort into this dress now. I did that in the spring to avoid the extra stress this fall. I ordered something online from KissBridal, and now I just have to pray it's here early enough for alterations to be done. Plus size things aren't easy to just find in the snap of your fingers. I've never been so angry with a stranger.

Slynd, first two months

I cannot take combination oral contraceptives because I get migraines with aura, and SSRIs have never worked for me. Just tons of side effects like reduced memory and attention, tiredness, tending to prefer isolation, even su*cidal ideation. They were a no go.

Just started my third pack of Slynd, which, by the way if you're taking it has a manufacturer coupon so you don't have to pay more than $25 a month. First month, no real difference in PMDD. Last month had 8-9 days of PMDD phase instead of usual 5, then bled for 11 days. This month, the only symptom I noticed during PMDD week is tiredness, but honestly that could have been other factors like having to work a 16 hour shift, then getting 4 hours of sleep, then working a 12 and needing recovery days to catch up. Will update as time goes on because hormones take time. I have been taking it continuously, no placebo pills.

I also feel like my Adderall is was working a little better during the premenstrual week than it did before, when it felt I couldn't do anything. Definitely had lower motivation last week, but I was genuinely surprised when my period started this month. I did start taking an occasional 5mg immediate release Adderall later in the day if I have a lot planned, and I never take the extended release for more than 3 consecutive days.

The theory with why Slynd might work better is because it reliably suppresses ovulation, leading to more stable hormones throughout the month. The mini progesterone only pill (POP) will not do that. It only thickens cervical mucus to prevent pregnancy. Slynd also has a 24 hour missed pill window, where the POP must be taken within 3 hours.

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, ask your doctor about Slynd if you have the same contraindications I do. I had to ask my doctor about this medication because she kept pushing a progesterone IUD, which I'm very averse to for reasons related to trauma. She agreed Slynd would be worth a try and the science checked out.

The real trouble with Slynd is that it is new, and insurance will treat it as a brand name drug because there is no generic for drosperinone, per multiple pharmacists, including the one I talked to at my insurance company. I was paying $70 a month with a prior authorization (40% copay) because it is a tier 2 medication, and there are zero exceptions according to my insurance. At least I found that coupon/copay card this month.

The smallest things

Just dropped ice cream on the floor as I was trying to throw it away because it was freezer burned and I literally wanted to throw the bowl across the room at the wall but only didn't because our dogs and my fiance were around. I'm still crying 20 minutes later. I am so tired of 25% of my life being taken away.

Heat intolerance

Our A/C just went out, and it had me really thinking about heat intolerance with ADHD. I've always had symptoms with overheating like sudden, extreme fatigue and feeling overstimulated.

Lately, when it's PMDD time of the month, I notice tingling in the sides of my face and even my fingers or toes. Apparently there is a neurological link with ADHD and heat intolerance, and I found this source really interesting. Though it's not exactly a scholarly article, it is a UK based therapy group, so may be worth a read: https://neurodiverseyou.com/blog/2025/07/16/why-neurodivergents-overheat-adhd-autism/

Anyone have any (scientific) sources about this sort of issue? I find the neurological view of these issues to have the best potential explanations. I just wish I knew biochemistry and the endocrine system better.

Mmm, yes, what comfortable hot and jagged rocks

Prismo is really getting some quirks as his adult personality settles in. He's just turned a year in May, and he keeps doing weird stuff like this. 85°, super humid, had the option to lay on a nice shady deck or go in the kiddie pool to cool down. Picks laying down on rocks baked in the sun on two separate days. Our senior poodle gave him some crazy side-eye for this choice too.

Off leash

How many of you are able to have your poodles off leash/have reliable enough recall? My 1 y.o. mini seems to be on track with recall to be able to do off leash soon. Great at leave it and will even leave another dog he's playing with to come back. My senior dog has always had a mind of his own once he doesn't have a barrier like a fence or leash keeping him accountable. He's also always been stubborn/likes to negotiate when he'll listen. The puppy is pretty different, maybe just since we've had him since he was 8 weeks and know what we're doing with training this time. Just wondering with your dog's temperament, how many of your dogs have been reliable with recall off leash?

My senior dog has always been a stubborn guy who negotiates when he listens. Just nervous to have my pup off leash because he's so FAST and smart enough to know the difference between on leash and off. At the same time, it would open up our activities we could do together/places we could go.

Finally let Prismo (1yo mini) sleep in bed with me... I worry he's going to suffocate with the way he prefers to sleep!

He wants to be fully burrowed underneath the blankets, and he conks out so hard! He doesn't sleep unless he is absolutely tunneled into the deepest, least breathable part of the blanket. I can get up, go to the bathroom, and come back, and he will still be sprawled out under the blanket. He doesn't try at all to get out; rather he buries his nose into a corner somewhere. He is so cuddly, but only under the blankets, not when he's on top of the blanket. He'll come and lay his head on my hand or lay with his back against me.

We call it blanket jail when he does this on the couch, since he is a rowdy puppy who doesn't like to just sit and snuggle. He will settle and fall asleep on the couch under the throw blanket only, so when we want him to settle as we watch a movie we put him under the blanket. Generally he just lays down and goes straight to sleep when we do that at night.

Our other poodle gets upset if a corner of the blanket covers his back half. He'd cut you for thinking about doing it.

Need shoes for my wedding; I'm the bride

I'm trying to find shoes anywhere that are white or blue, ideally something a little nicer looking. I'm not opposed to flats, kind of prefer them. I'm usually a size 11-12 2E in tennis shoes, and whenever I buy "wide" formal shoes they fit like they're made for regular width 🫪. I've looked at torrid but the selection hasn't been great :(

I'm thinking of making a cute fairy garden under our front yard pine tree. I'm considering maybe attaching a couple houses to the tree. Any advice for doing that? Also I'm new to the craft, so wondering what materials/glue have worked best. It's tough to get certain things set in place because glue can take so long to dry.
