We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson
Love Shirley Jackson. This and her short story collection Dark Tales are some of my favourite spooky weird girl books.
Any other recommendations similar to Jackson’s work? 🥀

I didn’t mean to intentionally map out the rest of my reading year but it’s looking good 😍
Lots of recommendations from this sub.
Any spoiler free thoughts on any of my reserves? ✨📖
As a working mum, I’m haunted by the fig tree analogy.
I don’t know if I’m late to the party, but I had no idea Plath wrote stories for children as well as her poetry and prose intended for older readers.
Has anyone read any of her children’s stories?
I’m off to go search for a copy to read to my children. ❤️
Oh, I loved this book! Such a funny read. Would definitely recommend.
Every time I found myself rooting for Julie, she would think or do something absolutely awful and you’d be reminded ‘Oh, yeah - this is not a good person.’
Any recommendations for other weird girl lit with unlikeable main characters?
Beautiful ❤️
I did not have a mother like this.
I strive to be a mother like this.
**so sorry, spelling error on the poet’s name. It’s Hollie McNish.
Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor

Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk
Fuck you, Doug.
I’m so in love with my daughter ❤️
What are the weird girl books you love so much you’ve given them multiple reads?
For me it’s Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and Milk Fed by Melissa Broder.
Something about these weirdos I just keep coming back to.
Any re-readers here?
Wondering if anyone has any advice or has had a similar experience.
I've bitten my nails since I was really little, but I finally managed to break the habit a few years ago. I'm 35 now. My nails grow long these days, but they seem to grow upwards instead of straight out.
I'm just wondering if this is something that can be corrected over time, or if the years of nail biting have caused permanent damage? Am I likely to have nails like this forever, or is there anything I can do to help them grow normally?
I'd really appreciate any tips or success stories from anyone who's experienced the same thing. Thank you! ✨💅
I’m on maternity leave, currently in the depths of cluster feeding and stuck under a beautiful baby who will only sleep on me. I want to fill my days with movies.
Any suggestions based on my top four?
Love seeing what everyone has read in June. What are you planning on reading in July?
On my ‘Weird Girl’ to read list are:
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
Julie Chan is Dead by Liann Zhang
My Husband by Maud Ventura
Lapvona for me but I did really like My Year of Rest and Relaxation.
Just an observation.
Any other weird girl lit to add to this pointless sheep-y list I seem to be creating. 🐑✨
Looking for recommendations for a weird romance.
Don’t mind what sexual orientation the characters are just gotta be a weird love story preferably with a happy ending.
☀️💛☀️💛
Re-read of Lapvona cos I absolutely love it and I’ve listened to the audiobook of Bunny before but it didn’t really stick with me so going to give the physical copy a read and see if that does anything for me.
❤️
