hot take: climbers have the most fragile ego

never in my life have i experienced people taking offense for getting help and advice. crazy that they even invented the saying "beta spraying". how insecure are you? do you want to send or not? just go up and dont let go

how to improve my behavior around woman (as a male)

Usually i barely interact with people if they dont approach me, i give people space, i follow all boulder gym etiquettes, i dont stare at people etc. But i was just curious how i can make woman at bouldering gyms feel even more comfortable and safe? What do you appreciate, what should i not do that i might not be aware of? Im only asking because i have many sisters (they dont climb tho), thus my curiosity.

wearing sports bra as a man

my gym has a no topless rule and thats fair i guess. i saw many girls wearing only a sports bra and tight shorts during this summer which is totally fair and it looks amazing. unfortunately, the heat is unbearable and i cant climb properly in a t shirt anymore. so i came up with the idea of just wearing a sports bra too? would that make look like a creep or something?

the asian experience

whats up i was born here and therefore speak swiss german, but i look asian. whenever i go hiking or interact with old swiss people, they speak by default with me in english or high german (german with an obvious swiss dialect). i get that many asian tourists are here, but sometimes even if i respond in swissgerman or start the convo in swiss german, they still continue with their weird high german. are they stupid? why do they still feel the need to speak high german if i have answered 3 sentences in swiss german already. its always amazing how people treat you differently only based on your appearance. its tiring thats what it is. i dont even wanna know how they treat people with way different skin color or culture. so fuck off, next time im gonna call them out. "why are you speaking german, i can hear your swiss dialect and you can obviously hear me speaking swiss german"

how do you afford studying?

Obviously, some get finances from parents or get money from government, university, subsidies or whatever. I dont mean you guys.

To those that are fully or partly self-funded, how do you get the money in to pay for your expenses? what kind of job? i guess monthly spending is between CHF 1500-2500 for the average person. how do you generate that income?

daily depression and low self worth

i grew up climbing (started at 2 years old) and have been competing ever since. im 18 years old now and still could never make semi finals in my countries national comp. sometimes i even fall on some random V8 and start crying afterwards in the corner. my entire self worth is tied to climbing hard, climbing grades and winning comps (or losing in my case). i climb everyday, no excuses, and even climbed once even when my fingers are bleeding hard or with a leg injury (due to a fall) and i muscle through every injury. my motto is send or die and i give 100% at every attempt and do try all moves no matter how risky they seem. i dont care how i fall or if i fall, i just risk the injury. send or die trying, no matter how exhausted i am mid climb, i will continue until my fingers cant hold any longer and i fall. during training i usually take cocaine to cope with the pain and put them off before comps. any tips on how to get better?

how do you feel about men watching you or other girls climb?

My friends and I have noticed that whenever a girl is climbing, suddenly the attention turns towards her and more men watch her climbing (more than if it was a male). Nothing wrong with it i guess, but sometimes i observe that some stare at the butt if the girls thatvare climbing

how to become a boulder bro

been a gym bro for years now. went bouldering as a date with a girl recently and i got hooked on climbing plastic rocks. what needs to be done to become a decent boulder bro? this is a new field and i have no experience yet. since my strength at the gym is pulling, i usually climb without legs as an exercise to keep my back muscles fresh. apparently (as i was told by my date), this was a boulder bro activity. any more suggestions?

girls wearing only sportsbra

i see a lot of girls (especially the younger team girls) wearing shorts and a sports bra. what do you think about it? topless climbing is not allowed, but wearing only sports bra apparantly is.

climbers are hypocrites

climbers are the biggest hypocrites i have ever experienced. why not just be honest?

- yes, i enjoy seeing you fall off and then flash it in front of you and your girl group
- yes, i love campusing during rush hour in front of many people
- climbing with no girls watching me is not worth it
- yes, im a grade chaser, so what? everyone climbs to get better, everything else is a lie.
- you are not too short, you are not too tall, the route is not too hard, you are just too weak
- just accept the fact that you need to hangboard and do weighted pull ups 24/7 and stop lying by saying that technique and flexibility matters more

How important are grades in undergrad physics

Do they matter? I started out studying insanely much for a few courses because i was afraid of failing them and because im a deep learner (i just have to dig deep to understand it and i enjoy studying things in detail). I ended up having very good grades so far, at the cost of taking less courses. Should i keep going like this? or study a bit "less detailed" and take on a few more courses? im at a 66% pace right now. I could go max to 80%
