Asurion Tech Care membership - how does cancellation work?

Yesterday, I took my Samsung phone for repair to this ubreakifix center. They fixed it all right. But when it came to payment, they gave me two options: either pay $199 outright, or take our tech care plan for $39/month and pay $50. I asked him how long do I need to keep the plan for before discontinuing? He said three months and that I had to call them to remove myself off the plan. I did the math and it still worked out better than paying outright.

Phone is repaired fine, I come home, click on the link they sent to add devices under care and find out there's an option to cancel the membership. Not only did it cancel the membership immediately, but also refunded the first month's $39. I also checked my credit card and I don't see even the $50 posted for phone repair.

A. Is it compulsory to keep membership for 3 months? If not, why did the store guy randomly lie?
B. I'm assuming they'll post at least the $50 for the actual repair since they sent me an invoice with it.
C. Has anyone cancelled membership online and then been charged for 3 months at the end of their first month?

Twist biosciences order tracker is fake

Anyone who ordered genes/clonal genes would have noticed the tracker for open orders. Turns out it's fake. They deliberately slow it down for standard orders even though the order has already been made. People were noticing that for standard orders (not express), they were making the orders, but not shipping them and then they were calling up customer care to ship.

So what the geniuses at Twist decided was to not let them know about it and install a fake tracker. They can now fill up their chips as they need because half the chips anyway would run empty. In case re-synthesis is needed, it also gives them a second chance to do it within the promised timeline. By this artificial slow down, they are getting people to pay for express.

Why aren't other companies like Genscript beating them on time like they beat them on price? Because they ship from China and that adds the 3-4 extra days Twist can save you with express. Ansa and IDT are way too slow anyway.

Logic to EAD and AP (I-485 pending)

Is there any logic to who gets EAD, AP, or combo card and when they get it with concurrent I485 filing? My spouse (dependent) got it in 3 months. No update for me after 7 months. Then there are folks here who never got either and folks here who got just EAD or EAD and separately AP months later. My colleague and I filed together and both our spouses got the combo card together and we got nothing, so there must be some pattern, some logic. But what is it?

S24 overheating while just lying on the table

Hello, I had USB port troubles with my S24 for a while. It would only charge at a particular angle and would disconnect at the slightest of touches. I cleaned the port, but nothing worked. It seems to be a common issue with S24. So I bought this Anker wireless charging pad in the link and it seemed to work. I left it to charge in my case and it was charging fine but took like 4 hours. 4 hours later not only was my phone hot but discharging very quickly. Now the phone's just hot sitting on the table with no activity and the battery is draining 10-20%/hour with no activity. I couldn't identify any background apps running. Did the wireless charging somehow destroy my battery in a couple of charges?
