Nicole Kidman AMC Nutcracker

This project allowed me to mix several loves of mine: nutcrackers, going to the movies, making miniature things, and just general arts and crafts. Nicole’s suit is made from upholstery repair tape and multiple yards of rhinestone chain. Her popcorn and drink cups are mixed media, (including air dry clay for each individual kernel of popcorn), and the tickets are shrinky dinks. Bringing it all together was a bunch of glue, glue, glue, and a complete rewatch of Mad Men.

Suddenly allergic to watermelon

I’m 57 and have been lucky I can’t remember being allergic to any foods until yesterday. I ate a whole lot of delicious watermelon and right afterwards my stomach became very painfully bloated and my nose was completely congested. Benadryl worked but I wonder, can this just go away or what? I read somewhere that watermelon allergies can be triggered by pollen I. The air so maybe it could be seasonal/? NGL I want to try a little bit to see what happens.

Mom has mantel cell lymphoma and dementia and is in hospice again. Have some questions

My mom is in in-home hospice again. It’s been 6 years since her diagnosis of MCL. Shortly after that she was diagnosed with dementia. Fast forward to today, she is completely helpless. My elderly father has home care workers come in to help with feeding, toileting etc. He has put her in hospice for the second time and I’ve learned that he’s keeping her on cancer meds against hospice’s advice. He also insists she wake up on a schedule, get out of bed (with assistance) when she just wants to sleep. She gets very upset and hits the care workers. He’s also demonstrating seriously bad judgement and lashing out at people in deeply threatening ways. I have called him out on his behavior and now I am the enemy too. All I really care about is my mom. I don’t have power of attorney and can’t call the hospice agency. I feel helpless and if anyone has advice aside from calling APS I’d love to hear it. I live on the other side of the country from them which makes it even more difficult.

Tell me I did the right thing

Got my second foot done in December and I’m starting to feel so much better, swelling is very minimal but I feel like my bunions are still prominent and worry they’ll become problematic again. I’m just in search of some reassurance from people who know! Recovery sucked extra hard this time. Triplanar bunionectomy with first metatarsal arthrodesis. I think that the after pic is from around 3.5 months post op.
