How do you like this album cover?

The 1st picture is a picture of Portland I made heavily saturated & vibrant, & would use as the album cover. The 2nd is the original image.

The album is meant to inspire Portlanders, & embrace the spirit of our City. It's a large culmination of all kinds of genres, mainly rap, but there's also r&b, jazz, orchestra, electronic, & even with the label of rap, there's 80s rap, 2000s soul-sampling, 2010s nostalgic, some stuff is chill, some stuff is grandiose. Each track, dedicated to a certain aspect of Portland.

What I have is 3 questions:

  1. Does that cover do the description justice?

  2. Does the cover look good?

  3. Does that cover do Portland justice?

If it's a no to any or all of those questions:

  1. What should I add?

  2. What should I change?

  3. Should I redo it completely?

I want this album to be a great representation of our city, I want it to inspire Portlanders, maybe even make a staple in hip hop as a whole, & to do so, I need to get feedback every step of the way. Consider this the 1st step, as well as the announcement, & sort of beginning of the rollout. I will continue giving out updates as the album progresses.

What are they seeing?

I have seen many questionable hear-me-outs, & for the most part, I'm able to let them slide. I have let Vicar Amelia slide, I have let the Xenomorph Queen slide, I have even let AM slide, but I gotta draw the line somewhere.

Glessa, Original May vs Remastered June

This should be the last of these remastered designs.

Let's be real, the old Glessa was just Wavewalker again. Even their clothing was similar.

I decided to change it so now she's reflective glass, rather than transparent. Then, I decided to build on that by giving her a vain personality, because mirrors are generally associated with vanity. Now, she dawns clothing more commonly associated with riches, many items being glass as well such as her necklace, & pauldrons. The hair was initially meant to look as though it was molten glass, although it ended up looking more as though she just had gradient hair, & the worst haircut known to mankind. The new design keeps the melting look, although now she's a redhead

The world around her is now no longer completely oceanic, & more desaturated. The spikes in the background were designed to look like glaciers, as though this were a psuedo-arctic world made of mirrors, as its own thing, rather than just glass Frutiger Aero.

All in all, I considered the old design to be the worst of all the alpha designs, or at the very least the most bland & basic, yes, even more basic than the old Wavewalker.

One thing I may try to change in later drawings of her is the reflectivity. It might become difficult to read her, if she's just fully reflecting the environment around her. Even in most cartoons, mirrors don't fully reflect the room, they just show a simplified version of it from another angle.
