As in: A Director makes a Meta-Commentary about a film-genre, he actually abhorrs.

All the aspects of the film receiving criticism are so exaggeratedly done, that I'm sure a director knows it:

Action-sequences are very repetitive? Yes!
Film ending with no conclusion at all? Yes!
Weird and silly looking aliens talking about something very epic and cryptic? Yes!
Characters are clichéd and interchangeable? Yes!
Silly unnecessary Mid-Credits-Scene? Yes!
Characters learning, that the aliens are not evil at all but still shooting them anyway? Yes!
Constant gratuitous shooting and explosions? Yes!

It's first half is fun and it's second half seems to willingly tell you, that the aspects you enjoyed about the first half are silly and empty. Then overdoing them so much, that we realize, how absurdly over the top it all is. Immersion is lost by hyperemphasis on entertainment-mainstream-movie archetypes.

I realize, that if that is true, it would be the most expensive elaborate prank in cinema history. But could that be the case?

Also: It's funny how much of this interpretation weighs on the director's name in the credits:

Would it say Haneke, von Trier or so... Meta-Commentary! Bay, Emmerich? Serious!

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this!

it just so happened, that I came across this album by french composer Daniel Brel and i absolutely love it. And now I am looking for more in that vein, but it's not easy to find.

All too often I find music similar to Einaudi, which is ok, but not at all what I go for.

So if anyone finds the time to listen to this piece or just generally recommend me sth, I'd be very thankful.

You know what I mean. Sitting somewhere alone, drinking a glass of red wine and sighing about everything let go by unexperienced. All the opportunities you let pass etc. But somehow having a warm feeling as well.

I believe the exact feeling I go for is called "Saudade" in portuguese.

I looooove Leonard Cohen and Matt Elliott and some Fado Artists.

But anything evoking said feeling in you is more than welcome.

I am not deeply invested in philosophy and via some edgy youtube rabbit holes I got around to reading E.M. Cioran these past few years and have to say:

Yes, it's dark, but maaan... the language is absolutely beautiful and stunning.

There's much I don't understand, from what I understand, there's lots of things, I disagree with, but it really is such a great read. My native tongue is german and there is some Cioran translated by Paul Celan which are my favorite texts so far.

So with that background: Do you know any philosophers with a similar essayistich approach? That use language as more than to convey meaning?

Well Folks,

by now you all probably saw one band or another, that really tries to copy the sound of another (well-known) band and therefore speak to the nostalgia-fans of the bigger bands. I already found quite a lot:

Led Zeppelin: Greta Van Fleet (Especially on their early albums)
Death: Gruesome (Saw em live and they were most awesome)
The Smiths: Brigitte Calls Me Baby (Especially on their first album)
The Cure: Desinteresse / Klez.e (Two Bands already, haha)
Type O Negative: October Noir

All of these bands do their copying with so much attention to detail, that what they do is not only influenced by the bigger bands, but a copy. Intently so. So that their songs sound like forgotten B-Sides of their idols. And they dress like them as well.

How do you interpret this surge of Copy/Tribute-Bands? Can bands express their own vision within such a tightly sewn corsage? Or is it -in some cases- only a cash-grab?

Any input or further copycat bands/acts will be appreciated!

But apart from her and (some) Franz Schubert, it ain't easy for me to find artists indulging in dark piano pop/jazz/classical/songwriting.

I've been listening to a few short surface level podcasts on german idealism.

Fichte's affirmation of the self, his thoughts on Selbstbewusstsein. The concept, that discovering meaning is an active deed by the self, his concept of "Tathandlung". That all that in its last consequence is basically an atheist philosophy.

This all seems very much related to many thoughts of existentialism which puts the individual at the center of the creation of meaning etc.

Are they in any way related? Do I just mix up "self" and "individual" while i shouldn't do that?
