Can I use the lore of a system without using its rules?

Hey guys! New DM here with a kind of odd question. I'm building my first campaign (so far I've only ever run a single one-shot), so I've been looking into some settings. In particular, Mystara from D&D Basic has caught my eye. The original version, from 1987.

The thing is, I'm probably not gonna use actual D&D for this game. While the system isn't set in stone yet, I'm gravitating towards a couple ones that my players enjoy more. That's when I thought "why not use just the setting, and slap it on top of another system?"

I don't see anything wrong with the idea, but figured I should still ask someone with more experience, just in case. So is this a good idea? Could it cause problems for my players or I? Have any of you done something similar? Any and all answers are appreciated, thank you in advance.

Is this original?

I found this Iron Maiden cd at a local store, but a couple things feel off. First, the artwork seems too muted, which is circumstantial but still. Also, my main concern, on the back it is registered to Parlophone Records, but every copy I've found online is by EMI. Do I have a bootleg, or is it just some obscure remaster? It does say Enhanced CD, so it may just be that.

Estou curioso.

Just couldn't wait to get my hands on this gem!

I just started collecting, but I just couldn't have a collection at all without it. I fell in love with this album a couple years ago, it's one of my favorites. So many great tracks... it's also beautiful in the hands, the photos don't do it justice. Overall, one of my must-haves. Lovin' it.

Today's pick-ups!

With these, my collection has tripled. I haven't listened to them yet, but I really like Counting Crows' "Mr. Jones" and with a name like Demogorgon, it had to catch my eye.

Sony vs Philips on portable players

New collector here. I've been eyeing a couple portable (as in discman-like) cd players online, at first I was gonna pick up a new one but electronics prices in my country are sky high right now, and everyone kept recommending the vintage ones anyway, so why not go with the tried & true, right?

I've found some good offers, and I was gonna pick up a Sony, but then I found a Philips in a local thrift store going for a bit cheaper (mostly due to shipping fees). I couldn't pinpoint the exact model, but it seems to be from around the same time as the Sony (early to mid 2000s). So I thought about asking you guys. Would you recommend Philips? Is Sony more reliable? Is Sony worth the extra just for the vibes & aesthetic? All opinions welcome.

Just listened to this for the first time

The New Moon soundtrack is pretty cool. Lots of emo, of course, but also some stuff I didn't expect (there's a song by Thom Yorke here, that took me by surprise). Anyway, even the songs that weren't really my thing were pretty good, and the transition is surprisingly natural between very different tracks. Nice disc, would listen again.

Is cdburnerxp.com safe? Can't access cdburnerxp.se

Hey guys, i wanna get cdburnerxp, but every link i see people use is from cdburnerxp.se, and every time i try accessing that i'm hit with an error 403. Searching for it on google, it sends me to cdburnerxp.com . Problem is, the setup process and the files it wants me to install don't seem safe at all (and honestly the whole layout doesn't seem trustworhy to me, but that's irrelevant). Am i being paranoid? Is that a copycat?

(the google ai said it's safe, but i would sooner trust a wolf to herd sheep)

Can I pirate games from Steam onto DVDs?

(first time post, sorry 4 anything)

i recently bought a cd & dvd reader/recorder for my pc, mainly because i wanna get into cd collecting & burning. however, while looking though my steam library i realized i have a lot of small games (a few gigabytes each), and that got me thinking: why don't i just buy some blank dvds and copy the games to them? it'd look cool (i love physical media) and save me some space. i wanna know if it's as simple as copying the files over or not, if they would still need steam to work, if there's anything i should know, if that would affect performance, that sort of stuff. figured this was the best place to ask.

my cd-player arrived a day early!

it was set to arrive tomorrow, but it just got here today. now, it's nothing special, i wanted something cheap & easy to get started. i don't have much stuff to listen on it right now, but that'll change in no time.

the first official cd of my collection

"Official" in the sense that i bought it myself. I have inherited a lot of cds from my grandma, but i haven't gone through them yet

Now, from what i found online, this is a solo project from the guitarist of a brazilian melodic hardcore band called "dead fish". Pretty excited to try it out as soon as my cd-player arrives, likely tomorrow or monday.

How important is the Lord's Prayer in different christian sects, and could it be considered "universal"?

Hello. I'm working on a story which will deal with a fictionalized version of Christianity (basically it takes place in another version of Earth, but one that still has Christianity, with some modifications to better fit its particularities), and so I've been researching some notable differences between Christian sects to help me craft one that would seem believable as having developed in my world (for example, it is mostly non-trinitarian, since the notion of Jesus being the son of God would be irrelevant to them). Long story short, I wanted to include the Lord's Prayer as the main prayer used in this world as well (especially since God is widely known in this world as "the Heavenly Father/the Father God", which fits with the first verse). I think it is a good fit because of its direct biblical origin, and how old it is, dating back to some of the earliest forms of the christian faith. Problem is, I come from a Catholic/Kardecist background, and so I thought that my understanding of the Lord's Prayer as the most important one may be biased. So this question goes more to other sects such as Protestantism, Orthodoxy and so on. Is the Lord's Prayer also considered that important in your sect? And would you say it is a good fit for a universal representation of Christianity? If this question offends anyone in any way, I apologize, I assure it is not my intention.
