First day of school?

Does anyone know when the first day of school for American Martyrs school in MB specifically is? I live in the neighborhood and would love to avoid traffic omw to work when the time comes, but I cannot find this very basic info on their website.

Life would be so much easier if I were pretty

This is not meant to be a pity post lol just genuinely complaining about how easy pretty/good looking people have things. Like for me, I have to try so hard not to look like a hardcore druggy. I have never done drugs in my life I just look bad naturally, like my hair is frizzy and poofy, my face is not good looking, my eyes are sort of sunken and I have one of those gummy smiles people make fun of. I have to try extra hard to make sure my outfit looks right, my hair is done (even though I don’t even know how to do my hair), make up done etc, and even then I usually still don’t look good or I look like I’m trying too hard. Meanwhile, naturally pretty people look good no. matter. what. They wake up and look good because they have a face card and that’s really all you need. I will forever be jealous of those girls who can just slide a claw clip perfectly into their hair into that half up half down thing and throw on some sweats and look great. If I did that, I’d look straight off the streets of skid row.

I also don’t think we talk enough about how being …well… ugly affects your daily life. There’s that saying “look good feel good” but imagine if you rarely ever feel good no matter how hard you try? That’s me. And probably so many others. Also the way people treat you! They are bound to be nicer to and more accepting of conventionally attractive people. Also I just feel so much envy in my life which translates to bitterness, anger, and irritability often and I’ve realized only recently that it all stems from the way I look and my insecurity about it.

Anyway, I prob just need to go to therapy lol.

Amanda Jones Vaughan

She genuinely seems like a cool person but her kids seem absolutely feral and her stories of them are so chaotic I always have to click through fast. They seem like they are the kind of parents to not have rules. I also don’t understand this influencer thing lately where they post chaotic, unaesthetic content AS an aesthetic. Anyway idk if anyone here even knows her she doesn’t have a huge following lol

Not getting any responses, can you see this post?

Hello, I’ve posted here quite a bit asking for babysitting advice because I’m not sure where else to do so. It seems like an active sub with most posts getting lots of responses, but whenever I post here I do not get responses. Sometimes I get 2 and sometimes 0, despite getting over 1000 views on it. Can you see this? It’s frustrating because I have genuine questions and I could use advice from other sitters since I don’t know any IRL but no one ever replies. Yet others here get tons of feedback.

Need help handling kids fighting. Twins constantly provoke older sister

I nanny for a family with twin boys who just turned 7 and a 9 year old girl. The twins loooove to bother their sister, it’s their favorite thing to do. I’m at my whits end and so is she.

This is an example: the other night, we went upstairs to get ready for bed. They go up at the same time and 9yo can read for a bit. Twins are changing into pjs and once one of them is undressed, he runs into his sister’s room nude and jumps on her bed. She yells at him to get out and he’s just laughing. Meanwhile I’m saying “[twin A] get out of your sister’s room, come pick a book or we won’t have time to read, etc etc” which he’s not hearing at all. She starts running after him so he jumps off the bed and starts running to the other side. She eventually grabs him and spanks his bare butt hard. He starts crying and I raise my voice at the sister telling her that was too hard. At this point I have crying twin by the shoulders trying to guide him out but he’s still trying to turn around and go back into his sister’s room. At this point other twin is in the room too and starts messing with her dollhouse. She starts crying because she’s so over it and I feel her.

I can only tell them to get out and stop bothering her so many times. They don’t listen at all. This situation was also after so many other occurrences that night. The thing is, I love these kids. When they aren’t together, they’re so great. The twins are cuties and so much fun and I relate to the girl having 2 little brothers myself. So I don’t want to quit. I just don’t know how to deal with the fighting.

Kristen seems so miserable and a mood killer now it makes having a kid seem not aspirational.

The Kristen scenes are so hard to watch this season. It feels like she’s being forced against her will to have fun post-baby. I actually relate to her a lot in terms of wanting so badly to have a baby and be a mom. I’m so scared of ending up in such a bad PPD state like her. Also it seems like Luke has to tiptoe around his girlfriend (?) and can’t even suggest that she relax just a bit without her freaking out. That has got to wear on their relationship. I know he has his faults but man it’s hard to watch. I hope she’s getting the help she needs.

How to raise kids you want to be around?

I am someone who wants to be a mom someday but im currently a babysitter/nanny. In my area (wealthy), it seems like none of these parents want to spend time with their kids. They are in school or camp all day long and then I pick them up and do the evening stuff even if parents are there. These kids are (understandably so) not very pleasant to be around. They are overly tired, act out, and are oftentimes really rude.

On the other hand, I follow a lot of moms on Instagram and a lot of them homeschool because they say they would miss their kids too much if they were gone all day and they want to be with them.

I realize these are two extremes, but I really want to enjoy my kids when and if I have them. I don’t want to be exasperated and need them gone all day. I guess I’m wondering if there’s a pattern with how parents who enjoy their kids parent vs those who don’t.

“You’re entitled to a child free life not a child free world”

…parents say as their children are running around a brewery bumping into people while they drink and ignore them (one example but there are many others).

I feel like parents (at least the ones I experience) think they ATE with this term because it allows them to not parent and have something to say to justify it. Like no, your kids are just straight up poorly behaved and you don’t care and are making it the public’s problem because you are entitled. Bye.

Kids I’ve babysat their whole lives still cry hysterically when I come over/their parents leave and I’m at my breaking point.

I am a career nanny and I do some babysitting on the side, mostly for one family in particular that has used me almost every weekend since the kids (3YO and almost 6YO) were newborns. Every. Single. Time I come over, to this day, the kids’ reactions when their parents leave or even when I step foot in the house are very intense (hysterical crying from both). You would think that I hurt them the way they react when I come over, but we are literally so close. We always have fun together. They tell me they love me. We cuddle. I’ve never even lost my patience with them or been short with them at all. I thought by now, especially with the oldest who will be 6 in a couple months, we would have been past this phase. They are both in school every day and again, see me every weekend. It’s not like this is the only time they’re ever out of their parents’ care. It’s getting to the point where I’m incredibly irritated by it. Yes, I know they’re kids. But these reactions every single time are a lot and take a toll and I’m not sure how to help the situation. I usually just validate their feelings and reassure them that mom and dad always come back.

If you’re a parent do you still like your partner after having kids?

I do a lot of babysitting so I feel like my sample size is pretty significant and I swear none of these parents seem to like each other. They seem so irritated with each other whenever I’m there. Even the ones who don’t make backhanded comments or snap at their partners seem generally indifferent toward them lol. I don’t sense any love, just kind of seems like a lot of them are roommates or brother/sister based on how they act around each other. I know kids can be stressful but I’m like damn, is this what it’s like after you have kids?
