Kahm yeast! Little pickle jar all grown up

I feel like this is a mile stone for my pickle jar. Her first kahm yeast! They really do grow up so fast. 😊 For anyone else who may encounter this - it's not a big deal. Just gotta give her a quick flush to get the yeast out, then top off with fresh salt/sugar/vodka.

Item Found- Anyone missing a patch?

Found this patch in a book at the Mult Co Central Library on Monday. Not sure what it means, but figured I'd post it to see if anyone would recognize it and want it back.

First Attempt With Peyote Stitch

EDIT - Thank y'all so much for the comments and tips! Y'all are so sweet 🥰

Howdy all! This is my first go at a flat, odd count peyote stitch. This piece is meant to be a bookmark (I still have to learn decreases to make the top taper to a point) and it's a bit wonky. I think my tension is just a bit all over place. Overall though, I really enjoyed making this so far!

My First Pao cai (Sichuan pickles) - So good!

I started my first pickle jar back on June 28th, and I am in love with this style of pickles! I've really enjoyed the process of maintaining and adding to my jar. Almost as much as I enjoy eating the pickled veggies! I didn't realize how fast of a process it is once your brine is decently established, but currently 3-5 days is my favorite window of time to pull out collards or choys. A couple days more for everything else. I'd like to let somethings sit longer, but I keep eating everything too quickly 😆. But my favorite treat to have from my jar are pickled quail eggs. I put them in, let them sit for 5 days or so, and put them a bowl of Ichiban sirarcha flavored noodles with mushrooms and blanched choy.

I just wanted to share, I don't have cultural roots to this style of fermentation, but I am so grateful and appreciative of it. Here's a pic from day one, and a pic from today after I gave it a bit of a freshening up (namely just pulling out old peppercorns and removing /some/ of the settlement at the bottom of the jar).

Nest Robber

Just a quick sketch following the theme of my last piece. Herbivores behaving badly, I guess. I may turn this into a finished piece later, but for now here is a quick sketch of a triceratops snacking on a very unlucky tyrannosaurus chick.

The Odds

FINALLY finished this after months of neglecting it. It was a fun one to work on, I really enjoyed the story telling aspect of this one. The odds aren't always in the hunter's favor.

Fun fact, I actually used a picture of the scale impressions of a stegosaurus to create some of the scale texture on this guy. That was a fun little experiment to do on this project.

My Architect Burb

I sometimes "sit" on my pigeon's eggs (they're not fertile), and when I do she often takes the time to work on home improvements. 🥰

Hear Loud Boom; What could it have been? -SW PDX

I just heard a loud explosion (it's Jun 3, @ 02:57 am) a few mins ago. I live in Goose Hollow area, it was loud enough to wake me up. Any ideas what it could've been?
