So, Masters of the Universe...

Tagged this as production talk because...I guess?

Anyway, I was watching the new Masters of the Universe movie last night, which good enough, fun time, not ground breaking, but worth the minutes I looked at it.

ANYWAY, during one of the fight scenes, the Adam/He-Man used an enemy as a club, ie. a pretty standard OP beat em up trope, and the way they choreographed it was PERFECT for DCC. The enemy was conscious and reacting to the fact that he was being used as a human baseball bat, and I loved it. I think that tone for some of the more unimportant fights would be PERFECT for the series, and it's all choreography and practical makeup, basically, doable on a smaller budget.

That's pretty much it. Yadda yadda, Ted talk and what not.

Cursor Grid Guide?

Just a question. I've noticed that when I'm usiing any type of shape edit tool, my cursor now has an extended, smart guide like cross hair it labels "grid." I actually love it, it makes some annoyances about shape making a lot easier to resolve. I'm just wondering when it was implemented, and what toggles it. I've looked over the last few updates and there didn't seem like there was anything in the notes.

Tinny, low quality playback with open DAW

Hello all, I have a question about what is likely an audio setting issue.

I'm working on a Mac Studio, and whenever I open a DAW, the audio will switch to being a tinny, peaking playback, almost like cellphone quality, but really loud. Any suggestions?

A few notes on the issue itself:

  • This is happening at my work computer, where I'm mostly editing voice over audio for video production. My home recording set up doesn't have this issue.
  • I'm utilizing Bluetooth over ear headphones and no specific audio interface, as I'm not recording into the daw, only editing pre-existing files.
  • I normally use Reaper, and noticed it there, so I started using Audition for simple edits. I just opened Audition to try and work on a music file, and it started doing it in Audition as well.
  • The change affects audio from a source outside of the DAW when the DAW is the active window, ie. a YouTube video in a browser with have the same crappy audio quality while the DAW window is active, but will play normally when it isn't.

Ok, I’m not saying we’re a cult, BUT…

…if we were, what would be our exiting salutation? Like “namaste,” “peace be with you,” or “may the force be with you.”

My suggestion is “May your kills always be thrice.”

I designed this logo for a band last year, and it's just not there. I've looked at it far too much, and I can't figure out what it needs. I've tried to adjust the contrast in the strokes, but I can't get it to look "correct." I've tried to clean up the linework, but it comes out being too artificial. I want it to read better, feel professional, but not clinically clean, but I'm just not getting it. I started from an amateur font, so I'm sure that's 90% of my issue, but I can't figure out how to push it to looking better in general.

Look for any critique I can get. More a production artist than a logo designer, so I'm happy to hear what anyone has to say.

EDIT: I didn't realize the transparency on the original made viewing difficult in certain situations.
