Alter my GF made :)

I didn’t have a copy of dismember laying around when she made it, so we used a full art turtles swamp, haha. I love her style

Looking to get into altering

Hello altering community! I’m going to try to start altering my own cards soon, and I was wondering what materials I should be getting. As of right now I’m thinking I need paint, little tiny brushes, paint markers, acetone, and a primer. I’m a super beginner and I’m terrible at painting, but I wanted to try it out. Please let me know!

Just Won My First RCQ

I just won my first rcq after trying over 10 times this season. I’ll be going to LA in October for the rc and I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for how to stay fresh and sideboard correctly for a meta like that. Thanks!
Here’s the list I won with: deck list

Edit: I just played my first challenge on MTGO! Name: JDunny4. I got 10th place, going 5-2, missing top 8 only due to my OMW% being less than the other 5-2’s who made top 8. I lost to domain zoo and eldrazi aggro, both of which made top 8.

Mono-Black Lessons Reanimator

Here’s the list: https://archidekt.com/decks/22966121/monoblack\_lessons

This deck has been popping up here and there since the release of new strixhaven and it looked perfect for me as I’d been needing a home for my overlords.

I brought this deck to my local modern event and went 3-0, and none of my rounds felt particularly difficult. I played against valakut titan, living end, and weapons manufacturing.

The amount of turn 2 archon in this deck felt crazy, and I hard casted archon off of crypt of agadeem more than once. Emperor of bones + archon feels like arena of glory + phlage.

This deck makes so much mana, has so much consistency and game against just about anything with the lessons from the side. The only issues I found is I wanted more green mana to be able to turn 1 eyetwitch, turn 2 phyrexian tower sac it to get origin of metalbending out of the side to deal with early sagas or amulets. The other issue is that if opponent has leyline of the void or rest in peace it’s gg. Otherwise, this deck feels like my archon of cruelty wet dream I wasn’t able to find when I played grixis reanimator.

Shadow Lists

So what’re people thinking with shadow? With phlage gone the aggro idea is actually possible, but I’m wondering if people are playing dimir, grixis, or rakdos. Recent lists on mtgo are playing rakdos with the learn ability to get key pieces out of the sideboard, but personally I think playing cards like flow state or expressive iteration is better. What’re the thoughts from redditors?

I’m back on mill, baby

With the prevalence of Phlage recently, I had put down mill to play other decks, but now that phlage is in the dust, mill it is!
