When to walk in to store for new sales support?

I’m buying my first EV, a 2026 Model Y.

I just learned over the past couple days that my promo financing rate won’t be honored if it passes the approval window, meaning I have to reapply for credit.

I ordered my vehicle on 7/29 and still have nothing received a VIN. I messaged support via the app and they’ve responded with general, and unhelpful messages.

I’ve read on other subs that Tesla can extend the loan for you at current rate or request a different bank with longer approval windows to fulfill the financing. I’ve also read from other that a service rep in store is typical more helpful and accommodating than those online.

I’m getting anxious that I won’t get my VIN before financing expires and lose out on the 0.99% APR. It’s been 3 weeks already since I ordered.

At what point is it ok / is it worth it to go into a physical store to speak directly with an advisor?

Wrong item returned, but it’s not?

I returned an unopened and unused product, received an advanced refund, and just got an email saying that they received the wrong item and I will be charged for it.

Amazon support has been useless and I don’t have any proof besides a confirmation that I returned the item.

How have you handled this? It is a sizable amount so I’m not willing to let it slide.

“Big one” and real estate pricing?

What are your predictions on the Bay Area real estate market and economy when the big one (M7.0+) hits? Assuming the epicenter is somewhere off the San Andreas fault running up the Peninsula between SJ ands SF.

Assuming mass damage, will tenured homeowners be displaced? I can’t imagine that cohort of people being able to afford a rebuild. Maybe property values drop?

Experience with Tesla service?

I hope this is the right sub-reddit because I've tried to post in other Tesla sub-reddits and it wouldn't let me.

My wife and I are leaning towards purchasing a Model Y, our first EV, to replace my wife's 27 year old car. It's been a really reliable car, but the service is catching up to us where the car is in the shop for every little thing.

Feedback I've read for the latest 2026 Model Y Juniper has been very positive, and we're inclined to pull the trigger (especially with the 0.99% APR), but I happened to stumble across some feedback left on the local dealer and service centers where I am (SF Bay Area), and there were some comments that concerned me:

  • customer dropped off their vehicle for service, but didn't receive a loaner vehicle, and vehicle has been in shop for multiple weeks with no estimated time of completion
  • customer was charge $250 fee to be added to service queue to diagnose problem (new process to me because my mechanics diagnose for free, and then quote for service)
  • customer dropped car off for service, didn't hear back from service techs, and when they followed up in person, service techs were roughly unhelpful

How has your experience been with Tesla support and service?

SF Bay Area Dealers - Worth Negotiating?

My wife is looking for a new car and really liked the Ioniq 5. We stopped by the dealer, who was surprisingly friendly, no pressure sales tactics, and had a good experience.

However, inventory is limited (only 2 cars on the lot) despite their website having 50 shown. One of the salesmen said most that are coming in are spoken for.

They're running a $7,000 rebate, which is really appealing and making me want to act fast, but I also don't want to buy without trying to get a lower price.

The vehicle we're interested in (a 2026 Limited w/ blue ext, black int) is listing at $47.5k. The $7k incentive puts it at $40.5k purchase price. We'd put $10k down, which puts a financed amount of ~$36k (includes tax, license and $85 doc fee).

Given the demand for the vehicle, will dealers budge on pricing or is it basically MSRP?

Sussing out LinkedIn Recruiters

How do you know if a LinkedIn recruiter is legititmate?

I've had quite a few interactions where they'd send me details about an opportunity, and then ask for a resume. Some have continued the conversation and put me in the pipeline, others, typically Indian recruiters from agencies, have completely ghosted me after I've sent a resume.

Is this a known thing?

Mid-30s going back for a MS in Engineering?

As the title says, I've spent the last 8 years working as a product manager for various SaaS companies, and am throwing in the towel for a career change. I want to get back into building and designing, and work on the technical side. I have a BS in structural engineering and did do some work early on in my career in that field.

With that being said, I'm considering going back to school for a MS EE or MS ME, and wanted to get thoughts from people in the field.

A couple reasons why is because I enjoy building things (tinkering with Raspberry Pi and 3D printers in my free time), and liked both my EE and ME lab classes I took during undergrad. And primarily, so I can pivot careers.

But, I'm looking for the ins & out, the realities of the careers path, etc.

Mid-30s going back for a MS in Engineering?

I have almost a decade in product management, but I am burned out and looking to go back to actually building and designing things.

I'm considering the possibility of going back to get a MS in engineering, either electrical or mechanical (I have a BS in Civil/Structural).

Has anybody done a transition like this or a pivot like this? For those who are in the industry, any thoughts?

Do the wealthy negotiate car prices?

If you’re wealthy, ie making a few hundred thousand a year, buying a Porsche or Ferrari, do you negotiate the price or just pay whatever is asking?

Similarly, if you’re buying a non-exotic car, are you bargaining?

I assume if you’re making a few hundred thousand a year, the savings is negligible to you. Also assume if you’re ultra wealthy (7-fig annual income) you probably just have someone buy the car for you at asking?

Suspension Recs for a 2011

I have a 2011 Limited and replaced the XREAS suspension and wheels during the pandemic with Ironman FCP Stage 2 kit (came with the springs and UCA) and 285s. They were great for the overlanding I was doing when the world was shut down, but my lifestyle has changed drastically since then and I'll maybe get out on the trails once or twice a year.

I've been out of the modding world for years now, so I'm not on top of what the latest is in the industry and looking for any recs on more road friendly suspension as my current suspension is just way too rough. Claude suggested a Bilstein 6112+5100 combo.

I still want to keep the 2.5" lift since I like the look and don't want to buy new tires, but don't really want to deal with rebuilding them as part of maintenance. My budget is $2000.

Transition from Product Mgmt to Mech/Electrical Engineering?

I have a non-linear career path, but I think what's relevant here is I have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and I've spent almost the last decade of my career as a product manager.

Now that I am between jobs, I'm trying to figure out what I want do next. I know for sure I don't want to do product management anymore, and want to get back into building.

I've been considering a career in mechanical engineering or even hardware engineering, because I come to realize I get more satisfaction from creating things.

Has anybody made that transition, or does anybody work in engineering (mechanical or hardware) type roles that can provide some insights?
