Are apartments in brisbane still considered a risky investment?

Looking at a few spots in the valley but everyone keeps telling me to stick to a house with land even if it is an hour away from the city

Does a Masters in AI actually boost your salary in Australia?

I’m seeing AI Engineer roles advertised for $160k+, but they all seem to value industry projects over a piece of paper. If I’m already a Mid-Level Dev, should I bother with the Uni route or just build a portfolio of AI-adjacent tools?

Is it actually smarter to start a business outside the capitals now?

I’m starting a small business while still working full time, and I keep hearing very different stories depending on where people are based. My mates in regional hubs like Geelong and Ballarat are saying demand feels pretty steady and tied to population growth, while people I know in CBD retail are dealing with quiet foot traffic and rents that don’t really match turnover anymore. For those who’ve run businesses in both metro and regional areas, have you actually noticed a meaningful difference in demand, costs, and overall stress levels, or does it still come down more to the specific industry and execution rather than postcode?

Is it actually realistic for beginners to build wealth just from salary + ETFs these days?

With house prices in most capitals well over a million and cost of living making high savings rates pretty hard for a lot of people, is the old “just buy broad ETFs like VAS/VGS and hold long term” strategy still enough to realistically build wealth in Australia?

Are mining giants basically carrying Australia’s budget position right now?

CME WA just released a statement saying corporate tax revenue from the resources sector came in billions higher than forecast, which really drove home how dependent the economy still feels on mining.

It honestly makes me wonder how different Australia’s budget position would look without companies like BHP and Rio pumping out huge profits and tax revenue during strong commodity cycles. Are we way more reliant on the resources sector than most people realise?

Is the McQualter rebuild officially ahead of schedule?

First Crack analysis this week says we’ve already "passed" the rebuilds of Carlton and Essendon thanks to our high-end talent. Watching Harley Reid (21 touches, 1 goal) and Willem Duursma (20 touches) dominate chunks of the game against the Dees yesterday was electric. Are we finally seeing the "watchable" Eagles again? We’re 2-7, but the resilience to win the final quarter against a top-8 side feels different from the last two years. Do you agree with David King that we’re already "box office," or do we need more than two superstars to stay competitive for four quarters?

What’s the most frustrating thing about cycling infrastructure in Australia right now?

Whether you ride daily or occasionally, there’s probably one infrastructure problem that instantly annoys you every time. What is it?

What’s the weirdest advice a provider has ever given you during an appointment?

My provider once suggested I lie about my address and use a mate’s place in a richer suburb because apparently it looked better on the system. That was pretty much the moment I stopped taking their advice seriously. Avoided all that bullshit after that and ended up finding a job by myself anyway

This looks like a massive, natural painter's palette dropped in the middle of the desert. It's actually an aerial shot of the salt lakes

The colors are pretty wild in person. You get everything from deep indigo and lime green to those bright Barbie pinks and rusty oranges. It’s not dye, though - the different shades come from how salty each pond is, which attracts different types of algae and microbes that change color to handle the sun. The white stuff around the edges is just thick crusts of salt, and those little lines cutting through the landscape are access tracks for the salt works. It’s one of those places that looks more like a piece of abstract art than a real landscape

Those feel like very different things. I’m worried that even with it off, there are still snippets being stored somewhere in my account that I have to go and manually delete every week.

I used a family guarantee to buy my first place while I was studying, but now that I’ve finished my degree and my income’s improved, I’m keen to refinance and get my parents off the loan; from what I gather it depends on hitting a certain LVR so the bank will drop the guarantee without charging LMI, just not sure what that number actually is in practice or how strict lenders are, so keen to hear from anyone who’s done it recently

I found a job myself on LinkedIn. My provider is now calling me every day asking for the employer's details and a copy of my contract. I know they just want the outcome payment. What happens if I just refuse? Can they actually stop my final JobSeeker payment if I don't give them their commission?

Liam Baker just spoke to the media ahead of the home game against his old side, Richmond, this Saturday. He seemed pretty composed despite the heavy loss last weekend. For those who follow the leadership transitions closely- how has Baker’s co-captaincy been viewed so far in 2026? Does he feel like the long-term solution to lead this rebuild, or is he just a "bridge" while the younger draftees develop?
