AKA: art of my favourite grass and fire starter pokemon. While I don’t hate the rest of their lines, I prefer them and when I find cards of them, I buy them despite them not being fairies (would help if there are official fairy type cat Pokemon! Technically, sylveon is one, but even then, it’s vague).

(My favourite water starter is primarina, but since it is a sea lion, it isn’t included here. This means that grass is the only type where my favourite starter isn’t from Alola as it’s from Paldea, though previously it would’ve been Snivy due to nostalgia as it was my first ever starter).

Before anyone goes at me and says ‘meganium isn’t a fairy type’, yes, you’re right for its regular self, but its mega form is, so it’s an honorary one.

Made this because Fizz has some similarities to Max (minus the violent tendencies in his regular form).

Made this based on a Tomodachi Life Living the Dream island when whimsicott had a dream where clefable, azumarill and shiinotic had her face (on the island out of these four, only azumarill is male. The rest are female).

I did this art for my fairy pokemon binder, as azumarill is my favourite Pokemon and it just so happens to be part fairy.

The reasons why I chose azumarill for Pop Fizz:

1. They’re both blue, long eared, limbed orbs (though azumarill is more egg shaped).
2. They’re both introduced in the second mainline games of their series (Gold and Silver for Azumarill, Giants for Pop Fizz).
3. They’re both magical beings affiliated with liquids (Azumarill is a water/fairy type while Pop Fizz is a magic Skylander who uses potions).
4. Both are usually ranged/special attackers (Azumarill has a higher base special attack than physical attack with no abilities) but can be potent physical attackers in certain conditions (Fizz’s beast form and azumarill’s huge power and, to a lesser extent, sap sipper).
5. Less objective, but they’re my favourites among their respective series (Fizz is my favourite Skylander while Azumarill is my favourite Pokemon).

Also, his last name comes from Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Can you tell I hated drawing Xerneas?

(After Unova, there will be more artwork per post as Sinnoh and Unova only have two fairies each).

Specifically of the decoy glove (Ratchet and Clank) and mimikyu (Pokemon).

If the Fizz Mimikyu had a type, it would be the same as regular mimikyu’s (ghost/fairy). While poison could fit Fizz, I think fairy fits him because his potions are magical and he’s a gremlin (the one pokemon with part of the word gremlin in its name, morgrem, is a fairy type).

Does scorbunny fit him better? Yes, but I like azumarill more. It having the amazing type combination of water/fairy helps.

I don’t have a favourite rock type, though I don’t hate any either. This is why rock is my least favourite type.

I know I’m going to tick off blastoise fans, but I think it’s a downgrade from wartortle design wise and I don’t consider it cool enough to make up for it. Also doesn’t help that my taste in pokemon leans towards ‘cute little guys’.

My top three favourite starters are litten, sprigatito and primarina. Snivy gets a bonus mention for being the very first starter I had, alongside my dad giving me a female Snivy called ‘Lala’ in a copy of Omega Ruby I sadly don’t have any more.
