What do you think of setting up a camera in my room?

I'm currently crashing at my parents and searching for a new place to live, but I've had enough previous experiences with bad, crazy and even psycho roommates as a woman to learn one thing: my room is sacred and having the keys doesn't guarantee they won't get in.

I'm thinking about getting a camera in the room that will send me notifications if it detects movement, what do you think?

How to safely dispose of a smartphone infected with malware?

Last year in my previous company an ex-coworker from IT was fired for malpractice and he took revenge against the whole company and coworkers by doing very unhinged stuff.

He started breaking in at night, stealing stuff from the warehouse, stalking and harassing employees near the entrance, carrying bats around outside and sending malware through physhing to the company and to personal emails.

Several of us fell for the physhing (it was very well done and personalized) and many women quit (including me) because he seemed very mentally unstable and dangerous, and we were afraid he was going to do something to us while stalking people who entered and left the building.

Anyways, I have no idea what the company did about it, but I got a better opportunity in the same field, changed companies and cities and decided to not involve the police or open an investigation or press charges because the police usually doesn't get involved until an attack has happened and I'm not interested in getting personally involved tbh.

But it's been a year and I still have the infected phone in a drawer lol, it has a RAT (I presume since he could remotely control it, turn on the camera, the microphone, etc), I deactivated WiFi and data before turning it off, it has no Sim card, and it still has the virus fully functioning even after factory reset 🤔

I don't want to throw it into a random recycle bin for electronics in case someone innocent picks it up and discovers a "functional" phone, I've thought about donating it to a cybersecurity school for educational purposes but then I remember the hacker is not some random person who lives abroad but some deranged mentally ill middle aged man who lives 6 hours from here and it could be dangerous.

So... I dunno, I want to get rid of it, I see it as some kind of weapon so I don't like having it with me lmao, any idea?

Sorry for asking but can anyone explain to me why? What's going on here? This is super wholesome and unexpected 🥺

I hate having to be fake to survive this society

I hate how much of a social disadvantage it is to be straightforward and transparent. I have to deal with so many people who are fake, two faced, act overly nice to you on your face while they stab you in the back, gossip, spread rumors etc, and the only way to socially survive them is to turn a blind eye and be nice to them while you know deep inside the kind of people they are.

It's so, so exhausting having to make obligatory pleasant small talk with coworkers, relatives, classmates or roommates that you know are total snakes and are betraying you every moment they talk about you but you have to be pleasant and social with them because we're part of society and avoiding them is an art that's very hard to pull off especially if you accidentally trusted them before and showed them your true self.

I hate this, I hate having to be pleasant to people who I know throw me under the bus, spread rumours, ruin my reputation, sabotage me etc, because it's the socially expected thing to do. You have to help and train snake coworkers, you have to socialize with toxic relatives, and you can't run away from toxicity because these types of people are everywhere, everywhere.

I hate this, I wish I could be openly displeasant towards people who've tried to hurt me without putting my job or other family relationships at risk.

I'm sick of all this bs, I cant afford to be alone so it's either toxic family or toxic roommates, out there? two faced coworkers, two faced friends.

I'm tired, I just want to sit down and be myself safely at one point without people throwing me under the bus, betraying me or stabbing me in the back.

I hate having to be live in a society I wish I could be a lone wild animal happy and at peace in its den.
