Hi guys 👋 I wasn’t army at all until two days ago, when I chaperoned my sisters at the Baltimore D2 BTS concert. I had an absolute blast! I now want to get more into the fandom, and I know the best way for me personally is always fanfic.
My problem however, is that I have a particular method of diving into a fandom’s fic space, and this one specifically is difficult for me.
I always start with angst, drama, found family type fics, or ones that stick close to real events/canon, so I can get a good grasp on the fanon versions of the characters, and choose my favorites. Then after I feel comfortable, I branch out into the shipping side and start exploring the less popular characters etc. etc.
Tldr I have a method I like and I wanna stick to it.
Any non-shipping recs that are easy on beginners? I also don’t read A/B/O and Reader Insert/OC fics
It’s probably just my paranoia setting in 😭 Last year we had the Westin, but I was able to snag a Marquis room by watching the portal a month before con. This year, we had a Kimpton Monaco room, but listed the Marquis as our first choice if something opened up, and on June 16th I got the email that my hotel had been switched to the Marquis. Last year, our confirmation email came 17 days before check-in, which would’ve been yesterday if it had been the same.
Normally I wouldn’t really think much of it, but I was reading the email again and saw something strange. The message I got from the hotel block said this:
“Good afternoon,
I wanted to let you know that I was able to move your room from the Hyatt House to the Marriott Marquis per your request. I have updated your reservation, and you will see an updated confirmation shortly.
If you have any questions, please reach out—“
Anyways, I’m just confused because I never had a Hyatt House booking, just Kimpton Monaco. Everything else looks fine though, so maybe I’m just over thinking it. But I am one of the 271 Dragon Con attendees who just lost my hotel, so I am on high alert rn for anything to go wrong, and I will NOT be dealing with two hotel crises so close together.

Anyways, I’m redoing it! The first image is my base dress, the second and third images are my cosplay from last year, and the fourth image is a badge ribbon design.
I’d love any ideas or suggestions! The event is in late July. Here’s what I’ve got planned right now:
- Organza with kudos buttons/tags/logos printed on and then made into a skirt that would go under that top gradient layer
- Paper parasol with Ao3 pages actually printed on. Fairy lights on the inside, and the tags that dangle down would be acrylic, or something stiff/solid
- Custom Jewelry, from earrings, to necklaces, to hair pieces, to rings, etc. etc.
- DDDNE bag will be more like the original paper lunch bag
