A defense of the SPIDER Monkey

i think people don't like it because we haven't really seen any super niche paragons like this yet. once we have more of them it'll feel more normal.

i think NK made a mistake releasing this particular one this early though, seeing as this would be one of the most niche paragons in the game. i can understand it being a bit jarring to go from something like druid paragon, which is a left-graph paragon, to this one. but in a vacuum there is nothing really wrong with a paragon like this imo.

to be clear, i'm NOT talking about its bugs, price, or path representation. i'm ONLY talking about how it is extremely good in specific situations but awful in others.

edit: I will repeat that i am NOT talking about its bugs, which are what causes it to be underpowered in its niche. NK have said they are working on a fix.

edit 2: GUYS, i know it’s weak in its niche currently. for the third time, it’s a bug that they are working to fix, and im talking about what it’s SUPPOSED to be.

Bunny Trials. there’s so much bigotry it’s insane.

i get the feeling these are all kids who think they’re soooo smart for putting out these polls.

working online was used the new gameplay video, suggests the beta is almost ready..?

https://preview.redd.it/3q95u2isjf8h1.png?width=518&format=png&auto=webp&s=481fb81fe7d998ae3074d4bc00ae4a9f6d04546a

we see that you can now have usernames in the latest build, which is very interesting as it implies that they have made progress on the online system. this is also backed up by it saying "you win!" or "____ wins!" when someone wins a match, meaning that there is only 1 user on the device that sees that screen, meaning they were on separate devices, meaning they were likely connected via online systems. the "____ wants a rematch!" also cements this as it is similar to other online fighters where you can request to rematch an online opponent.

just some findings that indicate they are making progress on getting us supporters the beta, very exciting! maybe im just coping

predicting every character's super move

what the title says. i'm gonna guess what each character has for their super/ultimate/final smash whatever you wanna call it. starting with TSC:

https://preview.redd.it/fvnhtqupn77h1.png?width=530&format=png&auto=webp&s=12b9b2445b3afc361e305e18f7e2ab37cf9eb866

what else could it be. more specifically i predict he will fire his laser eyes starting facing down then moving upwards, staying diagonally upwards to rack up damage, then a final explosion.

Yellow:

https://preview.redd.it/dr7ma0l9o77h1.png?width=128&format=png&auto=webp&s=86ac65bec39239475aacf2b80ae4c9ffa67f8fe6

granted they can't use an actual command block because of copyright, but i think it'll be a """command block""" like purple uses an """elytra""". i think he will fly upward before raining down a bunch of projectiles, almost like Lucas' PK Starstorm in smash bros. this one i'm not sure about as his portrayal in the game is much different than this and it might clash with the rest of his moveset, but it does use projectiles which he does a lot, but it is still tonally different from the coding-based moveset he has now.

Blue:

https://preview.redd.it/185zraycp77h1.png?width=161&format=png&auto=webp&s=ef70b6d4f450db4369a32d923c45b872a2106740

he drinks a bunch of potions and his stats get majorly buffed for a short period of time. this fits with the potion theme and would also be fun to use, so i think this is a safe bet.

Green:

https://preview.redd.it/3f9z6vlup77h1.png?width=314&format=png&auto=webp&s=d5673f869eae4ae7d1dd359cfa5b50c078c84fa4

he pulls out a """note block""" staff and fires notes upward in a tornado like in AvM ep35. i don't know about this one for similar reasons as to yellow, it doesn't fit with the rest of his kit. definitely up for debate.

Red:

https://preview.redd.it/dwxo248sq77h1.png?width=644&format=png&auto=webp&s=83a74d0eff03b554b59de5164fa6ed926c091bf0

he turns into a giant obsidian stick figure (maybe not as blocky) and wreaks havoc on the stage for a short period of time. i know he's only been shown to do this when possessed by herobrine but it still feels fitting.

Purple:

https://preview.redd.it/1w1n2epkr77h1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=c88d15f7b7bd3003ea6f2dff5ac55230a02bbafa

he summons an """ender dragon""" to ride on that shoots copyright-free purple fireballs. i know this is a stretch in terms of legality but i honestly can't think of anything else.

King Orange:

https://preview.redd.it/gsr4drzzr77h1.png?width=432&format=png&auto=webp&s=e6b65644f8bc4f19abd3becd25e14d131df0e040

he would fire a black beam into the sky, causing a black hole to form at the top of the screen. he would then need to use node crush or other upwards-launching moves to knock the opponent into it, causing massive damage. initially i thought this would be too similar to Green's, but i think i shook it up in a way that makes it feel more unique.

TCO:

https://preview.redd.it/wd0dnjnts77h1.png?width=477&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7e2f05e85a55eacf55453f4e956d7ae457e2745

he curls up into a fireball and performs the ground slam he did an AvA ep6 to defeat the giant virabot. this would launch any opponent who is on the ground high up into the sky and do a lot of damage (a more powerful version of the POW Block item in smash bros, if you know what that is).

TDL:

https://preview.redd.it/caukvxiet77h1.png?width=705&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7674d8dac145bedb367a8c7250991738c920e50

speaking of giant virabots, i think TDL will construct one in the background and have it crush and bite parts of the stage, all while TDL is still playable, so he can still hit opponents. i've used the giant virabot in AvA ep6 here but it could be the building he creates in ep13, which is almost definitely one of them given the shape of the top. it would be cool if the appearance would change, e.g. on the stage Alan's PC it would look like the image, but in outernet stages it looks like the building.

victim:

https://preview.redd.it/qdyp65e6u77h1.png?width=375&format=png&auto=webp&s=49b1e04811741fadaed53a4da146aa98d23c6558

we don't know much at all about this guy's moveset, only that he is a fast-paced character as DJ said in the AvG TDL showcase video. we don't even know whether he will use his hacker form or animator tools. he would surely use his hacker form for his ultimate, and i think he will simply transform and hurl a bunch of projectiles forward that deal big damage.

I:

https://preview.redd.it/nzg4my1xu77h1.png?width=207&format=png&auto=webp&s=f6c54c3982cef447189be4d75de8aeffc7784579

we don't even know how to spell this guy's name, let alone guess what any part of their moveset is gonna look like. i am super excited to know tho

Conductor:

"I like trains".

aand that's all my ideas! do you guys think anything would be more suitable? let me know as i struggled with a few of these. thanks for reading!

i talked to my dad about AI.

i had an argument with my dad and i want your guys' takes on it because i'm not sure how to feel. apologies if this is long winded or doesn't fit the subreddit

we were talking about making businesses and he mentions how i could build my own website and entire establishment using claude ai. i said i didnt want to do that and would keep ai usage to a minimum. he then said that that would be stupid, that i would need to use ai for this kind of the thing in the future (i'm currently studying software development so i roughly now how to build a website). he uses ai a lot for his job (website dev kinda thing), even though he is a very good web designer. we went back and forth a few times but he ended up saying along the lines of: "we will see so many more small businesses because of ai". he did clarify he would prefer to go back 5 years and not have ai entirely, but now that it's here it is a requirement to be productive. i said how if someone tells an ai to generate business ideas, that then talks to another ai about the feasability if those ideas, then another ai about the manufacturing management, etc etc until a whole new business is created with ai, no human interaction, then the process can be repeated endlessly for the profit of the 1 guy who told the ai to do this. he said that if that's how it's gonna be, then that's how it's gonna be. i responded with "well i guess we're headed straight into a dystopia then" and left.

i know i'm gonna get a biased response considering where i'm posting this, but what do you guys think about it? about how ai will likely become a requirement in order to keep a job?

when you try to call out Nin10doland for saying a transphobic slur

jesus his fans really defend him on everything. yes he probably didn’t know, but that doesn’t hide that fact that he literally said it, and should be called out for it.

i made an actual comment on the video, 1 reply agreeing, then that lego batman pfp guy went to his defence again. they said it “wasn’t directed at anyone” and other bad excuses. maybe Nin10doland needs to keep his fanbase and language in check.

Why can't people appreciate the work NK put into this

https://preview.redd.it/nxqs7enj1a4h1.png?width=987&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c9d05bd23eb1ae5dbd86bd223cfd2eaaf1c31b9

yes, dan d'monke and he-man are not *literally* 2 different heroes, but the amount of work put into each of them was almost that of 1 hero each. to illustrate this ill list the biggest properties of a hero NK had to do to make dan:

stats

animations

3d models

voice acting

2d images

other (descriptions, menus etc)

and these are what they needed to do for he-man:

animations

3d models

voice acting

2d images

other (descriptions, menus etc)

literally everything is different about them except stats. not to mention they had to do 2 of these for EACH of them because of the different transformations, so overall it is likely this was an equivilent amount of work to 3-4 heroes. can we please stop fighting over a single thumbnail and appreciate the work they put in.
