If you hadn't been paying attention - I've had a bit of a rough last couple weeks. Three injuries including a broken hand, flat tires, and personal family tragedies. Let me preface this by saying that no Artificial Intelligence was used by me in the making of this post ... And from the fact that in the last ten days I have suffered three major injuries, apparently no REAL intelligence was used either.

Sooooo ... Cindy made steaks. Being mostly made of Panther, I find the idea of a delectable steak dinner to be irresistible. We were celebrating finally getting some work finished in my office and it was high time for some steak.

But then we discovered we were out of salad dressing. Bear in mind, I'm mostly Panther but I do still love a good salad, and since Cindy is 90% Pikmin and 10% Wood Elf, she was really looking forward to the salad.

I hopped into my Jeep Renegade and went BEAST MODE to the local Ingles Supermarket. Tokyo Drift style into a parking space and in ine smoooooooth, practiced move that I had done thousands of times I slid out of the driver's seat, caught the door frame with my right hand, and flung it back behind me as I pivoted on the ball of my feet. Usually this move looks cool AF and all the ladies swoon, but tonight the Gods were laughing because somehow I shit the bed on the maneuver and ... Slammed my own goddamn hand in the door.

Ladies and Gentlemen: I broke my 5th Metacarpal. The doctor called this a Boxer's Break because it is common in boxing, but also common in car doors.

Sooooo ... Yeah the month of June saw me injure myself three times. Guys I'm in a lot of pain. 😑

I hope I got it out of my system. There's silver to be poured.

Until I am fully recovered I'm going to focus on investment cast stuff, because making my sand casting molds is not possible until this heals.

Edit : Well, it didn't load all the pics, so I'll explain. There's a metal shelving unit that was nailed to the wall in my basement. There were no books on the shelf, btw ... I tried a crowbar first and that didn't work. Then I tried a hammer and it didn't work. Finally I just grabbed it and put one leg against the wall.

The formerly immovable object then magically became an unstoppable force - but thankfully my face was there to stop it! So now you know the rest of the story.

SO THERE I WAS ... Picking out a new miter saw stand at the local Lowes. I found the one I wanted and had hoisted it up in front of me, held to my chest, as I attempted to extricate myself from the narrow ass tool section bays at the front of the store.

I was doing fine, at first, and was carrying the box across my front, when the right side corner of the box caught on the fence of a DeWalt table saw. This pivoted my body to the right, which caused the left side corner of the box to catch on one of the vertical posts of the metal shelving. Obviously that shelving wasn't going to move, so normally the fence of the saw should have given way.

It did not. Instead, the entire SAW rotated. Since it was designed to hold a lot of weight, the legs didn't come straight down but instead kick out at an angle to give it a wider base. Unfortunately this now tangled the leg of the saw up with my leg ... And down everything went, with me landing particularly hard on my right knee.

Long story short ... I'm now laid up, right leg elevated, questioning life decisions.

My plans to pour a shitload of fractionals tomorrow are officially toast 😭😭😭
