Defeated

3.5 years looking for a job
8 years in auto claims
7 years in WC
30+ in the insurance field

100s of applications
A handful of interviews
100s of rejections

I had an interview today, went well.

Or so I thought.

Rejection came 2 hours later.

Thankfully I have a job, I’m just burned out and need change .

I’m apparently employable (because I’m employed).
But not hireable anymore (because I’ve aged out).

I’m tired
I’m frustrated
I’m done
I’m defeated
It’s over

Sigh

Political text messages

Lawd, I can’t wait for this election to be over. The amount of political texts I’m receiving is insane! I live in Gwinnett but I have a 404 area code so I’m getting hit from Gwinnett and Atlanta.

Make it stop!!!

Sorry, rant over. Carry on.

I worked for Travelers Insurance back 20+ years ago as an Account Manager. My training was poor so I was placed on a PIP and resigned with a 2 out of 5 on my most recent review. That made me ineligible for rehire.

I switched concentrations and have been in a claims environment for 15+ years now, with no issues. The Travelers job was the only time in my 30+ year insurance career that I received a below average review and to this day I believe I was blackballed, because what happened to me, happened to several others before me…people who’d been working there for 20 years.

If I were to apply now, for a different type role than I had 20 years ago, would I still be cast aside for that bad review 20+ years ago? Am I blackballed forever?

Job posted a month ago that I’m more than qualified for, but rejected.

Same job reposted 6 days ago.

You’d have it filled if you’d just interviewed me.

3 years of this mess.

I’m 58 and I know that has something to do with it.

Thankfully I’m employed, but want a change.

Guess I’m stuck until retirement, if this job doesn’t kill me first.

Carry on.
