As the title suggests, two victims were severely injured in a hazing incident in a fraternity. Stuff like this isn’t just humiliating but also incredibly traumatic. These men’s lives won’t ever be the same and the betrayal they probably feel regarding not only their attackers but those who knowingly allowed this to go on might last forever.

Nigga…a secret service agent? Seriously? I don’t even have words. It’s legitimately concerning that no matter the badge, there’s always someone in our community willing to do us harm unprovoked.

Interested to hear any justification of this type of abuse in black fraternities. Why is this something that absolutely needs to be done? Is hazing to demoralize or demonstrate masculinity the end goal? This is someone who you’re supposed to be connected with for life through a fraternity and yet they’ll take out their weird BDSM fetishes and unresolved issues out on those probably unable to defend themselves.

I think if it’s on the floor and out of people’s way, non trip hazard, fair game.

You may not be aware but there’s some resurfaced discourse surrounding the introduction of a superhero “Captain Durag”. I’m on the fence because I do think they could’ve done something different, what that is? Idk. Maybe still a similar concept just not easily exploitable, whether that be in discussion or debate or any social context. **I wanna ask how you feel about this character and his representation of dads and black men in general.**(asterisks cuz I know someone is gonna be like wHaTs ThE qUeStIoN)

Quick facts below:

- show is on disney jr
- creators are both black Martellus Bennett (Former NFL) & Camille Corbett (Comedian)
- costume is basic superhero costume with durag mask down to a cape
- both Martellus & Camille have spoken publicly about the backlash basically saying they’re doubling down on the importance of the character and his representation
- Captain Durag fights crime in slime city and his nemesis is a talking dumpster
- pro Capt = he’s a cool character, nice to see our culture on tv, no harm in having our own character, we ask for representation and get mad when we get it
- anti cap = tone deaf particularly in today’s social and political climate, lazy character design, stereotypical representation, takes away from the importance of Aj’s dad’s character

It’s a kids show, I understand, but as a parent we have a responsibility to monitor and control what content our kids consume to an extent. I can’t say that I really have a problem with it, but I’m not saying I don’t have a problem with it. What’re your thoughts?
