Alexandria Dreamin'

"Dammit, why won't it start?!" Moat thought as she repeatedly tried to start her car's engine. She sighed. "Guess I'll be walking today."

It had all started when she got a neat little letter in the mail from the Military Department. She had been assigned as the Commander of Federal Forces in Alexandria.

As she walked to the train station, she could feel nervousness overtake her. "What if it goes badly?", she thought, eyes darting around as she paid for her ticket. She had gone through various complications with Alexandria, including seizure threats for her McDonald's.

She dragged herself through the station and on the train.

A few hours later, she was in Layla.

She hastefully took a taxi to the government district, hands jittering with anxiety.

Moat sighed as she entered the building where her new office would be. She passed the Governor's office. "It should've been Awier... but whatever." she thought. As she entered her workplace for the foreseeable future, she let out a whistle. "Damn, it's spacious." she muttered to herself.

It wasn't until just a few minute in when she had her first phone call.

"Hello?" A voice rang out from the other side. "This is Fruit, Minister of Lawncare and Military Department."

"Yes, I know. What's happening?" Moat replied, tapping her fingers on her desk.

"You see," Fruit began, "there has been military buildup by the Insignat Empire on the border of Eosara. We need 4 companies of soldiers to Roosevelt."

"Of course," Moat replied. "They'll be there by next Monday."

"Great!" Fruit said. "Thank you for your service, mrs. Moat."

"No problem, mr. Fruit. Glory to Doria." She told him as she ended the call.

Moat sighed again as she ringed up the commanders of the companies.

What if Starmer refused to step down, arrested all political opposition and declared himself Supreme Leader of Britain?

In The Apartment

My apartment, 22nd of June. As I try to navigate the mess of a floor to prepare coffee, I realize something. I freeze. Every day, one question has been nagging at me. Every hour, of every day.

"What have I gotten from Doria?"

What exactly have I learned from DemocracyOfReddit so far?

That, as happened with communism here in Doria, radicalism takes root wherever it isn't stopped.

And yet, I keep questioning: "Are the radicals right? Does the whole system need to be burned down, in fact?"

I snap back to reality. "No. Don't even think about revolution. You have your lord and savior Eduard Bernstein behind you."

I take a peek behind me, at my framed portrait of Eduard Bernstein. The man who has led me to this. The man who has guided me torward the true light of Socialism, one unimpeded from revolutionary impatience and authoritarian deviationism.

I think about Fred. My comrades turned radicals. I think about No_Thing, about anon, about Shrew. My heart aches a little.

"Social democracy is the hardest ideology to uphold", I think, eyes darting around my messy apartment. "You will get attacked from the left and from the right... as the foremost of defenders of the Republic."

Sure, our Sozialdemokratische Partei Dörland certainly wasn't perfect and had its many flaws... but I believe it ended in unnecessary tragedy.

I go back to the original thought.

Extremism, in general, is like a plague, in a certain sense. It festers on the suffering, oppression and desperation of people. It makes them blame their problems on the system, and promises to break said system creating those problems.

If it isn't met with the right vaccines, or in this case, legal weapons, like lawsuits and anti-extremist legislation, it will only continue to grow until it engulfs the entire nation - as is the case here. The seed of communism, planted with the Red Grits Alliance, that began to sprout under Left United! and fully blossomed into Doria as the Revolutionary Socialist Worker's Party, and later, the Communist Party, has consumed 3/4 of our provinces, the Parliament and the Presidency. It would seem like it is only waiting to abolish the democratic structures we hold dear.

Very well, then. If this is how Doria ends, let it end like this. In brimstone and hellfire, and in the hands of the reds.

But I won't stand for it.

Note: This may read like an unhinged temper tantrum rant. Let me be absolutely clear: It's 2 in the morning as of writing this, I can't sleep so I decides to write.

What is to be done?

What is to be done for the target of all of Doria, the ones getting pushed and pulled from left and right, the SPD? What is to be done for social democracy to flourish in the name of Bernstein?

Stay tuned
