I believe my city is harassing me about my yard. Please help me.

About a month and a half ago I received a complaint from the city that my yard was too tall. I contacted the inspector asking them to come to my property so I can show them my garden. I told them the hills in my yard are a garden and I keep by the street short turf grass. They showed up and said my yard was good.

Now today I recieved an email from the inspector I talked to originally. He said I’ve done little to abate the nuisance and is in the process of scheduling with the city contractor to mow my lawn. There are some tall grass seed heads that pop up in the mown section, but other than that it isn’t dense overgrowth. I mowed the lawn section about a week ago.

This is starting to feel like I’m being harassed by the city. There are many overgrown properties on my street full of invasives that no one ever has to remove from a complaint by the city. The inspector said he was “driving by” my house yesterday and saw my yard not under compliance. When I got the first complaint I was told someone working for the city “drove by” and reported my yard. In order to do that these people would have had to drive by a dozen overgrown properties to get to my house. Nothing was done to these other overgrown homes. I’ve been singled out twice now.

I admit my garden is very tall compared to other people with overgrowth. Right now I have about 400 square feet of dense 6ft tall showy goldenrod. The plants in my yard I use for cover crops do look bad compared to the rest of the garden and look like random overgrown grass.

Do niche plants like purple passionflower have less ecological value on the borders of their natural range?

I was thinking about planting some purple passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), but I’m on the very northern end of its recorded range in Northern Virginia. Will there be less wildlife value here compared to warmer climates? Should I plant something else with higher wildlife value instead?

Poison Ivy Removal

Anyone have recommendations for someone who will do poison ivy removal? A lot of places I’ve seen only spray and don’t do anything to physically take the plant out. Ideally someone who does hand removal then paints herbicide on the ivy stump.

Thanks!

Anyone know why these two showy goldenrod (Solidago speciosa) look strange?

Image 1 is a different plant than images 2, 3, and 4. None of my other plants look like these two

Is .01mg xanax doing anything for me?

I’m taking .01mg xanax once a day. Yes that’s right .01mg with a zero in front of the one. Is this doing anything for me? I currently have no withdrawal symptoms after my last reduction two weeks ago. For all I know the withdrawal symptoms after cutting from .02mg were in my head. Using a half life calculator the amount of xanax in my system at the end of the day before taking my next dose is around 0.0034mg. Am I just prolonging things with no real benefit anymore?

Is this aster yellows, mites, or something else?

My black eyed susans have some weird blooms. Not all of the blooms on this plant are weird. Most of them are normal. It’s only affecting the blooms at the moment with the leaves looking fine. I have about two dozen plants and this is the only plant showing the strange growth

Can you invite friends from a different console yet?

My friends and I used to play when we each had a PS4, but when the next generation of consoles came out one of them got an Xbox. We all stopped playing Hunt because the crossplay didn’t allow us to invite each other. If we’re able to invite each other we want to go back to the game

Will my large native garden make it harder to rent out my house? (Northern Virginia)

I’m moving but my current house and native garden are really sentimental to me. The plan is to rent the house out while I come to terms with selling. The house is in an area with a competitive housing market.

The front yard is 6,000 square feet and about 4,000 square feet of that is native garden. It’s mostly tall plants like showy goldenrod, smooth blue asters, mountain mint, and common milkweed. These plants line the walkway to the front door and get lots of insects on them. The backyard has a few native shrubs but is lawn for the most part.

Does anyone have experience renting out a house like this? Will this make it hard to find a tenant?

Assuming the ED doesn’t worsen how long can someone use trimix two times a week? Is it something that can be used long term like 20+ years? Or do things like fibrosis limit you to a shorter time?
