I was reminded why I don't blind buy anymore..

Awhile ago I decided I would no longer blind buy any bottles, only grabbing decants of anything I was interested in and buying a bottle only once I knew it was something I had to have. I heard about Serge Lutens L'Orpheline while reading some reviews and it sounded like something I had to try. I found it for a good price on a discount site and pulled the trigger based on reviews and Fragantica alone.

I got my nose on it last night, and while I don't dislike it, I find myself asking "when will I ever wear this?" I like the way it smells, but it just doesn't fit me. I can't think of a situation where it will call for this scent. Maybe that will change when the weather cools off. Hopeful!

It smells pleasant, very musky and dry, opulent and cold. Everything the reviews said. Nobody got it wrong. It's much less approachable than something like La Liturgie des Heures by Jovoy but more enjoyable than Heresy by Chapel Factory. It actually reminds me most of Royal Oud by Creed in the drydown. The opening is very sharp and medicinal, but once it cools off, it's.. a nice smell.

Not complaining, just wanted to share!

What would YOU play?

I have 2 monthly tournaments this weekend! I have narrowed it down to the below and can't decide, so I wanted to get some feedback.

10 Land Stompy
Beefcake
Mono Black Clerics
UW Flippi

The goal is fun, enjoyable gameplay, winning is nice, but I am not trying to spike anything.

I expect The Rock, Moneyball, Sligh, Mono-U Dreadnought. Diverse field.

Shure SM7b inhaling/breathing in in recordings

Like the title says, I am running into an issue of hearing myself breath in during conversation, wanting to limit it in ways that don't involve minimal breathing as it's for a longform (1 hour +) podcast type recording.

Set up is currently

Shure SM7b

Focusrite Scarlet Solo 4th Gen

Triton FetHead in-Line Preamp

(gain at 40% via Focusrite, mic around 3 inches away, diagonal to mouth)

using SteelSeries GG Sonar software with ClearCast Noice Cancelling to remove all background noises and Equalize the audio.

Overhead Card Game Video Camera Recommendations

We are capturing overhead footage to SD card of a card game.

Currently we are using a Canon Vixia camcorder, It works, but the image quality is starting to feel like the weak point, especially with some visible noise/fuzz on a dark surface.

I am looking for a standalone camera (not a phone setup) to do the following:

  • Record at least 60–75 minutes continuously without stopping
  • Record internally to SD card
  • Remote start/stop would be very helpful
  • Can run on AC power/dummy battery
  • Manual exposure and white balance
  • Good for a fixed overhead tabletop shot
  • Better image quality than a Vixia camcorder
  • Budget-conscious, ideally used

I already have soft LED lights, overhead light dampening, and an external 7" monitor for checking framing.

I’ve been looking at used Panasonic GH4/G85 options, especially a GH4 with a 12–60mm lens, but I’m open to better ideas.

Sears LXI Series model 934.53794190 Goodwill find.

Picked up this Sears LXI Series model 934.53794190 from Goodwill for $10! It looks like it's really complete, I can't find a ton about this unit out there, but I thought it would be a fun thing to do some projects with. My goal is to "modernize" it by allowing capture to a hard drive via a standalone AV recorder.

Does anybody have experience in using these 80's camcorders to do this? I would love any advice, feedback or suggestions.

I plan to NOT use the batteries included, and instead just plug it via the AC adapter only. Assuming it works, I want to just clean it up and do some basic "modernizing" to allow for me and my friend to make some fun project recordings with.

2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid S SYNC Keeps Disconnecting iPhone 17 PM

Hello,

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid S with the basic radio system, randomly while driving my bluetooth disconnected from SYNC. I reconnected it and now it shows up but when I try to play any media it says "Bluetooth Disconnected" on the radio followed by "no SYNC device detected" and no matter what I do, it will not work, however it is finding the phone as when I did a "Master Reset" via the radio, it asks to import my contacts and enable to smart-911 function. It sees the phone! Is this an iPhone issue? My SYNC module cooked?

I saw someone say to pull the fuse but I can not do it, my hand is too big, and I cannot get it in there.. (why the F did they stick it way up under the dash??)
