You can't go around telling people your friend "committed suicide" because an alter went dormant.
I don't know if this person actually knows the severity of losing a friend to suicide and what it does to a person. Because it's not this "silly alter in my friend's head is gone but might come back if they decides it's quirky enough to return". Suicide is a serious subject that I do know about because I've had friends commit it back in high school due to the strain and pressure from both the school and their parents.
Comparing someone no longer having an alter to losing a friend to suicide is MENTAL. It's beyond insulting to those who have had friends lost to suicide and those who were on brink. And I know they're doing it because they want attention from the severity of the issue.
"If people ask me why I'm upset, I say a friend committed suicide". Do you know how MENTAL it is to claim this? And even they know how insane it sounds because they admit it might be too much, but the fact that they haven't stopped says enough to me. They want people to know the "severity" of someone else "losing an alter" because "tiny people playing in my head" is all they see DID as.
Lastly, I'm so tired of these idiots treating alters like completely different people that only exist to play with each other. The idea that this person sees someone else's "alter" as a separate being whose dormancy is being considered SUICIDE is so far detached from the reality. This is on par with people who claim that their "lost alters" died and that's when the "alters" are never coming.
Alters going into dormancy isn't something I'm knowledgeable about, so I'm going to let someone else handle that.
