How often do your parents reach out to you?

I’m 42F, my mom is 68. FWIW, she’s a functioning alcoholic who is nasty when she drinks. She almost never reaches out to me. I reach out to her at least weekly via text mainly to check in to which I get one worded answers. I’m getting tired of it. She doesn’t seem interested in my life at all. She lives very closeby. I genuinely feel like she doesn’t like me. All I’ve ever done is tried to appease her. I’m an only child. Sigh.

Relationship with my Mom

Hi everyone. Sorry ahead of time for the long rambling post but appreciate anyone who reads and responds. I’m in my 40s, my mom is 68. She’s a functioning alcoholic who has liver cancer. When I look back to my childhood, I do have good memories I would say before the age of 12 - she seemed happy and fun, and then as I was in my teens and into college, I remember my mom getting angry when she drank and doing passive aggressive things such as bolt locking me out of the house one night. When I confronted her the next day to try to talk to her about it she acted as if “well I thought you were already home” but she could’ve just looked out to see if my car was there. This is just one example - there are many others. Every time I’ve confronted her the next day it’s just “well sorry” and that’s it. Also, I can’t remember the last time she’s reached out to me. I always reach out first. She lives very close. When I say she’s functioning, I mean she’s independent and works. Most recently, I was having some issues with my car (it was 12 years old) and she firmly (through text but I can “hear” it), told me to STOP putting money into it and she’ll “buy me a car if she has to.”

Mind you, my husband and I don’t need her to do that and I didn’t ask. I said thanks anyway, but I think I’m going to just trade it in for a VW. She goes “no. Talk tomorrow.” Mind you this is always- ALWAYS mid to late afternoon after drinking. She works early mornings. The next day, I sent a text saying that her tone even though it’s a text is passive aggressive and I really don’t appreciate it. Her response? “Ok.” That was two weeks ago. I’ve since got a new car. She hasn’t asked me about anything. She never asks how I’m doing. I regularly ask how she’s doing/feeling, etc. Do I just “continue” the relationship or lackthereof like this? It really bothers me. I have talked to her about her drinking multiple times. PS - I’m an only child. To add, she and all of her siblings are known for sweeping things under the rug which then leads to anger and resentment and I’m simply not continuing that. Furthermore, I quit drinking 2.5 years ago. I’ve seen what it’s done to people and it’s just horrific IMO. Thanks for any insight.

Down ~18 in 4.5 months

Feeling pretty good about that! I’ve been at a plateau for a few weeks and would like to lose 15 more lbs. I’ve not had to titrate up much, I’m only at 3.5. Has anyone noticed any “major” side effects with a 1.5-2mg jump?

Possible burnout?

Hi everyone. I’m a 42F - have been doing CrossFit on and off (mostly on) for 12 years. I’m definitely just average - still can’t do a pull-up and some other things. I’ve definitely become much stronger in other areas mainly overhead pressing, pushups, etc. I’ve had moments recently where I’ve had to step back because after a

Workout, it takes me a very long time to cool down. Mind you I’ve always had a pretty high HR despite being “conditioned” and am on the slower side. Wondering if I need to stick to lower intensity type workouts - mainly strength training? I’ve been supplementing with Pilates right now and they also offer hybrid Pilates/strength. I know it’s not the same! Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I’m also trying to narrow down if I have an autoimmune condition. Just very tired lately and taking a while for me to settle after a high intensity workout. It makes me sad and having FOMO but I know my health comes first. Thank you.

Struggling..

I’ll try to make a long story short. I’m 42F, I had premature ovarian failure when I was 17. My period stopped one month and I wasn’t sexually active yet. I recall having flashes and night sweats. I was put on birth control tablets as “HRT” and was getting a period every month albeit light. Fast forward to about six months ago, the period stopped and I began not feeling well. Various symptoms mainly fatigue, brain fog, pretty bad irritability, etc. I’ve exercised regularly for about 15 years and have had times recently where I’ve needed to cut that back or scale so it’s not super high intensity. I do CrossFit ~2 days a week and other training 3 days, Pilates maybe once a week. After a workout a week ago, I thought I was dying. My face always flushes but it took 3-4 hours to feel somewhat better. Next day, we left for a long road trip that id been so looking forward to for months. I’ve been able to hike (easy), canoe, etc but feel noticeably tired after. I’m enjoying myself but I’ve experienced fatigue, out of breath easy, face and neck flushing, night sweats, headache, slight chest tightness. No fever, sore throat, congestion etc. my question is and yes I messaged my doctor but this whole time I thought I already went through menopause so there’s no way I can be going through it again but maybe I’m a very rare case?! Also, I feel ok in the morning and come 2-3 PM it almost feels like the flu coming on. This is 3-4 days in a row. It’s very very uncomfortable. Looking for any insight or similar situations that I can share with my doctors because I think we all know how frustrating it is to be heard. PS - I’m still on BC tablets but my OB nurse practitioner advised to take the first 21 days then start a new pack. This was 3 months ago. I think it did help for 1-2 months but now back to feeling crappy. Thank you.

Maintaining weight

Good morning all. Happy Friday. I’ve been on compounded tirzepatide for 3 months. I’m 42f and down 16 lbs @ 164 from 180. I don’t want to go lower than 150 lbs so I’m thinking by the end of the summer I may be there. For anyone who’s reached their goal weight, are you still taking it? Less of a dose? Stopped taking it? Also, I haven’t titrated above 3MG since I’m consistently losing. Started at 2. I still have a good appetite, just can’t eat as much portion wise. I’m very active. Thanks to anyone who shares!

Joint pain from meds

Hi. My husband 51M has tried a bunch of different cholesterol medications and has been suffering with joint pain from all of them - the statin and repatha being the worst. To the point he could barely move. He is a strong guy. He does make it to the gym 2-3 days per week but I can tell with his moods that it’s affecting his quality of life and we talked about it this evening. He wants to try zepbound but our insurance doesn’t cover it. I take the compounded version which I was thinking might help (he does want to lost some weight) but seems nervous to take it. Has anyone else experienced pain from many different meds? What has helped? He’s not one to complain so this is important. His dr basically says meds or heart attack. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thanks.

Med and working out in the heat

Good morning. I take 5 mg Lexapro and this week I did 3 days in a row at CrossFit - no air-conditioning and it really affected like my whole day. I did not feel good and am still not 100%. Has anyone else had this? I may need to cut it back or take their other classes which are air-conditioned for the summer.

Something I have noticed - just sharing

Hey all! I’m going into week 10 on Tirz 2.5 mg. Down 11 lbs. since starting I have NOT been wanting to dine out like at all lol. Takeout once a week maybe. I was very into going out to eat at least once a week. Not really complaining as I’m saving a lot of $ and calories, just an observation! My appetite is still good, I just can’t handle as big of a portion as before. I do still have a sweet tooth (I’m sober 2.5 years so I “blame” that). I’m happy so far!

Quick question

I’m just curious why this shows 30mg/3 ml but then 10 in parentheses. My first vial said 10mg. I can’t recall what was in the parentheses now since I discarded it already. Point being, I’m 7 weeks in and lost 9 lbs on 2.5mg. I do think I need to jump to 4.5 now. Didn’t lose last week 🤷🏼‍♀️ thanks in advance if anyone can explain the numbers. I did send a portal message.

Hey all. I can send a message on the portal but just curious - I’m starting my second vial this weekend. I’m 6 weeks in (got more than 4 weeks out of the vial) down 8 lbs and want to stay at the same dose/strength since I’m still losing. However this vial says 30mg/ml whereas the first one said 10. Should I take ten units instead of twenty? 🤔

Hey all. Just wanted to share my experience on compounded tirzepatide thus far. I’m 5 weeks in and down 7 lbs (a total of 10 lbs since last August which was my heaviest) Tried tooth and nail to cut calories, count macros etc but was always STARVING. I’m 42F. The food noise for me has definitely improved. I’m still hungry for meals but have probably cut portions in half. I’m sober 2.5 years off alcohol so I still have a very strong sweet tooth. I’ve not titrated up yet because I’m still losing at the lowest dose. I’ve experienced some nausea but nothing severe. Bowels are fine. I workout regularly and make sure to hydrate throughout the day. I’d like to lose 15 more max. I know I didn’t have a whole lot to use but the lessened food noise in myself has helped me mentally. I hope this helps if you’re on the fence!
