Bold or Chicken?

I get bold

Say things without censoring

Then I run to hide

My pervy ways

Are not for the average Joe

I chose to share with you

Please let me

Be me

I have no one else to be

So take me as I am

Pervy and full of innuendo

About a life I dream of…

If I share that side with you—

You’re a diamond.

Don’t tarnish it

Just wait it out

It’ll descend back

Into the depths

Of me

From which it came.

But maybe you

Hold the key

To unlock me

Eternally…

Hot take: The fifth movie is the worst

I believe this because of the amount of material it just bypasses by Filch posting another rule.

So much could’ve been done with this movie….I was so disappointed when I watched it the day it came out. And every time I watched it again. And yes I know I shouldn’t have watched it again if I disliked it so, but my mother wanted to watch it about 8 years ago…and since then my daughter has wanted to watch it.

Animals Are…

.

Animals are amazingly complex

Yet so simple.

Building dams for shelter,

Using trees or fence posts

To scratch an itch

Guard your house

From any and all

Leaving fertilizer so plants can grow…

Yet, cage them to one spot

And the earth is ravaged

Striped bare of its nutrients and life.

After all, animals are both complex and simple.

Animals are curious

They will watch what we do

With hawklike focus

They push their way past fences

Like a nosy neighbor

Or watch you through windows

Like you’re the entertainment.

They will stick their snout, beak, or nose

Into whatever bag or box or bin

Hence**, animas are** curious.

.

Animals are caretakers

Once the bond with another

You will see love like no other

A rhino and a goat

A bear and tigers

A penguin and a seal

There’s threat

Sound the alarm to save themselves

A child is crying

Their cat comes running

Had a bad day

Your animals know and snuggle deep

So,  animals are caretakers

.

Animals are survival driven

Food is important

It will be found and guarded.

They will find a source

Eat

Then back off to watch

When another comes to eat

They will try to scare it away

Or if they animal is communal

They will dine

With their brothers and sisters.

After all, animals are survival driven

.

But my fave animals are assholes

Sitting too close to feeders I provide

Flybys close to my head

Another is eating out of the third feeder

Hell no!

Dive bobbing commences

Little chirps that sound so sweet

Until you see the actions

Yes these birds are my favorite,

So magically fast and beautiful

But dammit,

These animals are assholes!

Too tired

I’m too tired
To write
I’m too tired
To move
I’m too tired
To care
I’m too tired
To give a f—-
.
But really
Exhaustion masks
My emotions
Exhaustion masks
My needs
Exhaustion masks
My empathy
Exhaustion masks
All of the things
.
So maybe
I tire
Myself out
I tire
Myself physically
I tire
Myself emotionally
So I can
Hide in oblivion.

Handholds and Imprints

Ms. Grey wrote of handholds the morning of her school’s graduation not knowing what was about to come. Many hugs, “I’m proud of you’s”, and “I love you’s” later; she returned home. Home to gather her daughter, do some chores, then off to the next task.

A student from her former high school, had slipped into Ms. Grey’s Instagram DMs to invite the former teacher to a graduation party. This student, most of the ones from this previous school, were special to the teacher. In reality, the teacher’s love grew with each student in their life, but those former students were her babies. Ms. Grey had built that program with her precious time, blood, sweat and tears. Grey’s own daughter being raised around those students as if she had hundreds of big brothers and sisters.

Ms. Grey drove forty minutes to go to the party for this young adult knowing that this student valued her so much. Grey and Lil’bit walked up to the door and through the window the student saw them. She ran to them and gave Ms Grey a huge hug trying to convey her love and affection. Ms. Grey returning every ounce back. A second student hugged Grey. And then the embrace was over. But the graduating senior took Ms. Grey’s hand and led her the rest of the way into the party. The graduating senior held Ms. Grey’s hand for a good seven minutes talking and walking and interacting with others.

That handhold was a special moment in history. Grey knew she had the feeling correct—a lifetime can be measured in handholds. To know a former student from two years before, was impacted so much that she wouldn’t let go…

The student’s mom came up after and conversed with Ms. Grey. Telling her that she has been the Student’s favorite teacher of all time. How humbling for a teacher.

Yes, a lifetime can be measured in handholds. And Ms. Grey gives students safety, love, a listening ear, empathy, and compassion, and Grey leaves an imprint on the lives of those who are willing.

This is exactly what Ms. Grey needed to get through the end of the school year.

Swimming Holes

River days

With lazy ways

Champagne on the shore

No thought of chores

Gentle breeze gliding by

Moving the water with gentle sighs

Friends bond

Becoming more fond

Of time together

It just seems better

Sunlight passing through trees

Gentle buzzing of bugs and bees

Girls giggle and play

Hearing all they say

Fun here and there

What a special day for care

Spending time out with mother

Among friends and others.

What better way to rank

Than feeling nirvana on the bank.

An End to Insanity

I feel like I need a disclaimer. When I was 18, I wrote this about a friend but read into it as you wish.

Handholds

A life can be measured in handholds.
As a baby—a little fist on a finger
Learning to grab
Manipulating digits,
Holding hair, jewelry, parents.
.
As a toddler—one in each hand
Holding and guiding,
Keeping the toddler from falling
While learning to walk.
.
As a child—one to guide the way
The child will attach in times of shyness
Keeping safe
Keeping secure
.
As a teenager and young adult—no longer a parent’s
A list of firsts
First crush, first touch, First significant other.
.
As an adult—it starts over again
But this time, the adult's hand
Is doing the holding of their children
Still clinging as they begin their journey.
.
Entering into middle age—
Holding the hand of the one you love
Helping grandchildren on their journeys
.
As the elderly—roles reversed
Still the ones you love,
But they are gentle guiding now
Helping get one where they should be.
It is with handholds that life is measured.
