Bored and need some tunes to throw on. I want something that will transform me as a person. Recently listened to all's well that ends well by chiodos for the first time and it slapped, if I could get something with that same energy and whimsy in the instrumentals I'd love that. I also LOVE selfish machines by pierce the veil, if there's something that could capture that energy I'd love that. I dig electronic elements if used right, and because of that I see stars have been in my rotation for a minute. I've also had Jamie's elsewhere on repeat for a while. So if you know any albums that meet those requirements, throw them out there!

If you do recommend an album, please list your favorite song from it. That way I can listen to it and quickly get a vibe for if the album's something I might dig. I only ask cause I might be getting quite a few suggestions and it can get hard to get to all of them!

I'm taking calc 2 this coming semester and I am horrified! I've heard how bad it is, and I'm a little rusty in my calc 1 knowledge. I took it at the start of last school year and passed with an A, and I'm reviewing topics right now. I have exactly 2 weeks before the semester starts, if I review every day, will I be okay in Calc 2?

So I'm big into post hardcore/metalcore from like 2008-2015. Think bands like pierce the veil, ice nine kills, my chemical romance, I see stars, Jamie's elsewhere, early crown the empire, etc. I always thought stuff from earlier than that wasn't really my thing, but I've lurking on this sub and saw some people talking about "authentic" post hardcore, and I've seen glassjaw mentioned a few times. I like to listen to albums to wind down for the night, so I decided to pick a random album from these guys and give it a shot. Boy did I underestimate them. I'm about halfway through their album "worship and tribute" and there's some pretty freaking cool musical moments. His voice reminds me of a slightly less whiny gerard way, and I love that guy so it's a win for me! Anyway, all this is to say that I think I judged early post hardcore too harshly without giving it a proper listen.

Glassjaw fans, what's their best album? What other bands should I give a listen?

I just recently discovered the band Jamies Elsewhere, and they freaking rip! I was listening to their album rebel revive, and the guy's screams in that album satisfy something deep in my brain and I can't get enough! Unfortunately though, he left the band soon after that album from what I gather online. His name is Justin Kyle, does anyone have any info on where he is now or what he's up to? If he has any solo projects or is in any new bands I'd love to listen to them!

Let me just start by saying I love the song and I think it's my favorite material of their since a work of art. With that being said, I'm not an audiophile but I feel like something was a little off about this mix. Mainly, the whole thing sounded kinda dry if that makes sense. Like for example Spencer's lows were way less saturated than normal and sounded like he was kinda dehydrated, and the kicks sounded less full than normal. Did anyone else notice this or is it just me?

I've been a fan of both silver screams for a while now, and for some dumb reason I just assumed that people who liked their earlier work were just trying to be "real fans". I've listened to Every Trick in the Book a few times now and holy crap it's good! Honestly, I think it has some of their most interesting musical moments in there, and I love it! So far my favorite songs are communion of the cursed, me myself and hyde, and the people in the attic.

Sorry for prematurely judging all you fans of this album. Now I gotta ask, is the rest of their early discography this good? I'm always looking for new songs to listen to!

I'm a somewhat new fan of the genre with only a couple songs I listen to regularly. I got into Lorna shore a little while back and I've only really listened to 'to the hellfire' and the pain remains album (from which 'welcome back o sleeping dreamer' is my favorite track). Recently though, I discovered the poetic edda EP by disembodied tyrant and synestia, and holy crap I love it! I'm a bigtime post hardcore and metalcore fan, with my favorite bands being pierce the veil, ice nine kills, the devil wears prada, and my chemical romance. I'm not a huge fan of gorey or satanic themes, so I'd prefer if the recommendations didn't have too much of that. Anyway, fire away with your suggestions! If you recommend a whole band or album make sure to highlight a song or two that you think is best from it.
