Allied 498 (Pioneer SX-2500)

This one was sneaky: when I first saw it I thought it must be some cheap old Sears or Montgomery Ward brand and I saw the hundred dollar price tag and scoffed. But I tried to lift it, and it was very heavy, so I looked it up, this is a rebranded Pioneer SX-2500. I plugged it in and everything lit up beautifully, I had the 20% off coupon so it did end up being 80 bucks which usually is a lot more than I would pay for a question mark, But I have a week to return it so I figured what the hell.

Y2K Kona Muni Mula

Not sure this is old enough to count as vintage, but I turn 50 years old this year and this was the bike that I was drooling over half my lifetime ago I didn’t have the money at the time. I Found this year-2000 Kona Muni Mula at Goodwill for $30 a couple months ago, missing a front wheel, incredibly dirty and coated in a thick cake of grease, rotten tires, but underneath it all, remarkably good shape. I bought a used front wheel that matches pretty well from a local by co-op, got some puncture resistant tubes and some brown-wall tires, new brake pads, new cables, new chain, found a fancy Italian seat at the same Goodwill for five dollars, gave it a good cleaning and waxing, cleaned and repacked the bearings in the hubs with new grease, i’m pretty delighted with this.

Avocados, guavas, and the last two mangoes of the season

The avocados are “Brogdon”, the guava’s are bright pink on the inside, and the mangoes are “coconut cream” - couple of pink lemons snuck in there on the left, they’re not ripe yet, but I needed the zest today. All grown in my backyard in Central Phoenix.

WAPAK at the goodwill

I stopped looking for vintage cast-iron but this one caught my eye as I was walking through yesterday. It’s my first WAPAK, I’ll strip it and season it this weekend.

Ocean Beach Antique Mall

Last day in San Diego, I decided to tool around Ocean Beach at the recommendation of several people. This place had a bunch of mugs. I didn’t buy any.

Wellers in San Diego, Ralphs Mission Beach

I know lots of you are headed to San Diego this time of year so I thought I’d just give you a heads up. The 12 year was $120 and the full proof was $80, I skipped the 12 year due to the price and got a bottle of the full proof. The Blantons was like 90 I think.

Altec Lansing Amp

I saw this Altec Lansing Model 1270A at the ASU surplus shop, I was in a big hurry and so I didn’t have time to ask whether you have to buy the whole pallet or whether you can just buy the amp.

Has anyone tried the 11yo OBSQ currently at the costcos? Would love to hear some opinions before I commit.

KDKB Rocks Arizona’s Skaters

Saw this badass old board at goodwill. I’m trying to eliminate the extra stuff in the house so I left it for the next OG Phoenician.

Klipsch KSF10.5, Pioneer Elite

With the 20% discount these were about 150 bucks at the Goodwill, I passed them by. There was also a Pioneer Elite SC-07 receiver, which, in 2009, cost $2,200.00. It was 30 bucks. I also passed that by.

Single Dahlquist M905

One single speaker, no stand and no grill, not in terrible shape, but not in great shape, $13. I asked the employees if there was a second one in the back or somewhere else in the store, they had no idea. What would you have done? Would you have bought it and go back again in the hopes that her partner was there? My living room speakers are a pair of.Dahlquist DQM-3 and I love them, but these ones are bigger.

Antlers

They were eight bucks apiece. I have once or twice bought chunks of antler for my dogs to chew on, but they charge like $15 for a little tiny hunk, so I figure maybe I can chop these up and give them to my dogs at the very least. Question: someone has painted them white and gold. I wamt to get the paint off - and tested for lead- any thoughts on that? Or alternative ideas for what to do with them?
