It doesn’t matter what app or device you use or if you keep a physical journal. If losing that journal, planner or notebook is going to cause you distress, make sure that you have independent backups. What I mean by independent backups if it’s an app, they usually have automatic backups through some cloud service. That’s great, except that it syncs directly with your app, which means if you lose the documents in your app, you lose the documents in the cloud. That cloud backup only protects you against device failure. It only protects against app failure in certain circumstances.

What I recommend is that you make your own PDF of your document when you change it or when you have significant changes whatever workflow works for you. make sure that you keep your own consistent PDF backups.

If you use a physical notebook take a picture of the pages as you finish them.

I’m about to start a vibe coding project at work. My resources are limited due to security concerns but I can ask for “special permission”. The code will be R and/or Python. Some webscraping, some number crunching, some report producing. I have a programming background and some rudimentary skills in SQL, R, Visual Basic and a few other older languages. I do not have time to learn the syntax for the code I need to write.

That’s the background. My question is what AI vibe coding services should I consider asking for? And why?

I’m eventually going to build a Rasberry Pi security system. I’m reading and researching but I have a question about rechargeable batteries. Can I pull the batteries out of things like a portable fan that is broken and no longer safe to operate for use with Rasberry pi things? Assuming amps, volts, watts and whatever are sufficient?

I’ve been told I can’t just pull the eink screen from my kindle or reuse the camera parts from the old Blink system because of proprietary firmware issues. Do batteries have the same concerns?

ETA: Of course I should do research on how the batteries work before putting them into use. My concern is if the time will be well spent or if it is a fools errand.

Just to clarify, the broken fan has a great battery but the fan casing is broken, exposing the blades.

I used to do this frequently for note-taking. With the new Outlook, printing options are limited. So are many other options but that’s for a separate discussion. I’m wondering if there is a workaround for this. I know that the data can be imported to OneNote (sometimes) but I just want a PDF that I can annotate.

Also, it would be cool to be able to print a monthly and weekly schedule with the event titles wrapping instead of truncating.

I cannot export a calendar and I tried emailing an event but I could not open the resulting file.

Side note: This is my work computer. When I say it can’t be done, I probably mean ITS locked that feature. Also, sometimes I need a printed copy for various reasons.

Any suggestions?
