Chipping on outside of jewel?

Hi everyone! I decided to take apart a Waltham last night, and found that the bridge for the escape/seconds wheel was shimmed with a piece of brass. Today while pre-cleaning, I also found a chip in the outer portion of the jewel for the escape wheel. Should I find another movement and replace the jewel here, or is it ok to leave alone? Thanks for the help!

Weirdly positioned lugs?

Hi everyone! Just got this one in today! It’s a Waltham Trench watch which I believe is from 1907. Just wanted to get your thoughts on this one’s lugs. It seems like the top one is off center, slanted to the left. It doesn’t seem bent, just weirdly soldered there. Was there a reason for this? I was gonna put it on a bind strap, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Waltham Grade 367

Hi everyone! I’m trying to find a new escape wheel for a Waltham Grade 367, and found that one from a Grade 361 might work. I’m guessing the guy before me bent the pivot when trying to get the one bridge on. Can anyone help and confirm this for me? Thank you!

Waltham Grade 367 escape wheel.

Hi everyone! I’m searching for a new escape wheel for a Waltham Grade 367 17 jewel movement, as the last person in it seems to have bent the pivot. As I am currently searching, it seems that the Grade 367 is a little more difficult to find. Will a Grade 361 (7 jewel) escape wheel work in this? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Benrus Wrist Alarm - #3021 case issues

Hi everybody! I’m trying to open this Benrus Wrist Alarm, but I can’t get the stupid thing out of the case! It’s a #3021 series. As you can see, I have the crystal and both crowns removed, and I have both stems pushed back into winding position. Even though it wiggles and seems like it wants to come out, no amount of tapping or gentle shaking will get it out! Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Ruining escape wheel pivots, despite using a smaller basket.

Hi everyone! I bought a Chrono Clean a few months ago, believing it would help speed up my cleaning process. However, I have found it to bend most of my escape wheel pivots, leaving me to buy another movement and clean the wheels in my ultrasonic cleaner. I was recommended to buy a smaller, stainless steel basket to hold them, but it still ends up bending my pivots.

I don’t believe that it’s me who’s doing it, as I have never really had this issue before. I have dozens of other relatively successful projects sitting in my watch box.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on here? It seems like all the baskets I have, their mesh is big enough for pivots to fall through.

I’m sorry if this sounds like I’m complaining, but I absolutely am!

Hi everyone! I have a few mainspring winders that feel like there is no resistance when pressing the button, but seem to have a “lip” on them and that the plunger isn’t seated all the way down. Can anyone tell me if this looks right or if something’s wrong? Thanks! (I tried pressing down from the top, but it won’t go down anymore)

Hi everyone! I’m running out of One Dip for cleaning my balance wheel and pallet forks, and it seems it’s getting harder to get. I’m not seeing it online as much I have in the past. So, what do you guys typically use? I see Esslinger has Security Brand Hairspring Dip, is this any good?

Hi everyone! I would like to take this apart eventually to service the movement and clean the case, but I really don’t want to damage or break the older bezel. It seems to be made of plastic. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this? Thanks!
