I have a ton of offcuts of ceramic tile at my house from a reflooring we just did and the other day I found a bag of denim pant legs that my daughter cut from her pants to make shorts so I decided to get crafty.

I cut the denim into flat pieces, laid the smooth face of the tile on the back of the denim, traced around the tile and cut it out, leaving about .5cm on each side to wrap around the tile. Then I put contact cement on both the tile and the back of the denim and let it dry a little and then stuck the two together, wrapping that extra denim around the edges of the tile. It's super easy and quick to do.

The diamond lapping paste is from Amazon, I got it years ago and have used maybe ⅓ of the 3.5 micron and very little of the other ones.

I've been using that 3.5 micron paste on basswood lately and I like it better than stropping on leather. I made denim strops a long time ago but the glue kind of puffed up when I made them and they weren't great. I think I used gorilla glue and didn't spread it like I did with the contact cement. I stropped some pocket knives last night with the one in the last picture and it works great. The paste doesn't come off the denim like it does on the basswood which is nice.

I have a pretty large size "bush" of this Sundrop fruit, Eugenia victoriana, that's given a couple good harvests but lately just makes a few fruits here and there. I picked these today but they still need to ripen up a little. They smell and taste like a passion fruit, much more sour though, with a little hint of resin and a little hint of its cousin, Arazá which is a hard fruit to describe the taste of haha. They're amazing as a drink and I've also made ice cream with them that is delicious.

The plant is very easy to grow, it probably would grow from zone 10 up, maybe even 9. I think it's originally from Brazil or Colombia. It flowers profusely right after a good rain coming out of the dry season and then continues to flower a couple more times before stopping again in the dry season. A while ago I had a small species of stingless bee close to this plant and it set more fruit but I have moved some of the hives and sold others, that may be the reason for less fruit set.

I've had AWT scales on my Native for a couple years now but I just had the itch to go back to the FRN scales and well, I kind of like them better. I even have the stock clip on for now. I have a deep carry, LynchNW I think, that was on the AWT scales. I'll decide whether I want to switch it out after a while. I'm weird I think, I like keeping things the way they came, a purist some would say.

I have an original Google Home speaker and recently it started sounding super crackly. I opened it up and realized the rubber around the subwoofer cracked and the vibrations were making it sound like that. I had an idea and basically nothing to lose, but I really wanted to fix it.

I marked with a pencil each edge of the crack, there were two, and used a q-tip to apply contact cement between the marks to seal them. I let it dry over night and boom! Speaker works fine again. I'll update if anything changes but I'm super happy it worked.

I'm not sure if contact cement and rubber cement are the same thing but they're similar and I'm sure that would work too.

I bought these last year, among a bunch of other Rough Ryder's, because I thought they were pretty unique with the blade shape and the supposed history to them. I also wanted to see if I could carry a slipjoint knife and actually enjoy it. I have a bunch of knives, mostly Spyderco but I've been carrying and collecting knives since I was maybe 14 (I'm almost 45) and the slipjoint just reminded me of the knives my grandfather had laying around the garage.

The blue jean micarta has a lighter spring than the other two which I don't really like but it's not super light, it's also super full of metal shavings I've been oiling it and cleaning it for the last couple days now and it's almost there. The turtle shell one had this weird gummyness to it when I opened it but it had a strong snap on the close. I oiled it and cleaned it and still nothing and then I realized that the bolster was probably too tight so I wedged a fixed blade in and slightly pushed it apart and now it's pretty good. The cinnamon bone stag has the nicest spring of them all, nice and snappy and tough. If you look at the peaks and valleys in the bone stag it's almost exactly the same on each side, you kind of have to look past the toasting though to be able to see it.

I also have the small cotton sampler in tobacco bone which is probably the nicest of the bunch of Rough Ryders that I got. Again, a nice strong spring and the bone is beautiful. I did get a small trapper in blue denim micarta and the spring is so light it scares me to even use it. Like I was trying to whittle some wood and the knife went through the wood and the blade sprung up to the half stop. I still haven't decided if I like the slip joints yet either.

Here's a graft I made a couple years ago on dragon fruit rootstock. It took off like a champ right away and then just kind of stagnated for a year or more and didn't do much. I repotted it a couple weeks ago and it decided to explode in new growth again. Still no flowers yet but it was smaller than a dime when I first grafted it.

Just to vent a little, and shitpost. This is the second time in a row that this plant has had the spike broken off. At least a couple more flowers opened this time haha.
