HB Køge, KC Current's sister club in Denmark, win league championship

Nadia Nadim (formerly of Sky Blue FC, Portland Thorns, and Racing Louisville) scored twice today as HB Køge won 3-1 over Kolding IF to secure the club's fourth league championship on the last day of the season; she won the golden boot with 16 goals in the league. Rikke Madsen (formerly of NC Courage) also scored for the champions today, and Mille Gejl (also formerly of NC Courage) raised the trophy as team captain. In so doing, the club completes their first domestic double, having won the national cup for the first time last month. They also lost a heartbreaker this season in the last qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup.

KC Current's owners bought HB Køge just over a year ago. Mwanalima Adam Jereko, formerly of KC Current, started for the club today, as well as US players Macy Schultz (Arkansas) and Avani Brandt (Stanford). KC Current's Flora Marta Lacho joined on loan this season but hasn't played recently. Other US products in the squad include former Bay FC player Catherine Paulson (Stanford), Emma Pelkowski (Virginia Tech), and Skylar Briggs (Cal). HB Køge will enter the UEFA Women's Champions League in the second qualifying round this fall.

Felicia Schröder continued fueling the hype as the 19-year-old scored all four goals in BK Häcken's 4-2 aggregate victory over Hammarby in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup final. She had a hat trick today as Mak Lind's former club won 3-2 at home to seal the title under new head coach Elena Sadiku.

On the US front, Häcken vice captain Tabby Tindell (veteran pro out of Florida Gulf Coast) ended the match with the armband as Laney Matriano (rookie from Notre Dame) spelled captain Anna Anvegård for the last few minutes. USC Trojans alum Helena Sampaio missed the match with an ACL tear from earlier this year. Madison Pogarch didn't make the bench for Hammarby. Schröder has gotten lots of reported transfer interest but re-signed with Häcken during her breakout season last year.
