Poll for laid off. Are you in acute trouble, or are you fine with mega-savings/assets ?

Are you acutely impacted (eg: must move, etc) or do you have nest egg that allows you to not worry for a few years/decades/ever ? I assume after 10-30 years of FAANG income, most have $1m to $30m saved?

  • How much do you have saved?
  • Are you taking any drastic action?
  • What's your plan?
  • etc

Central AC. Should I keep bedroom doors open or closed ?

2 story house. Small hallway upstairs and 3 BR's.

Central AC. Nest thermostat is in upstairs hallway, along with return air intake vent in hallway. Living room stairs lead up to hallway upstairs.

All 3 bedrooms have a supply vent. The only return vent is in the hallway. Only BR #1 is used. I do not need BR #2 & 3 to be cool? I will leave BR #1 door open. But, should I keep BR 2 & 3 doors open or closed? If open, does cool air just get sucked back into hallway return vent? Pointless cycle?

Will closed doors force air to be sucked up stairs from LR ? Is that better?

How will thermostat react if BR doors are open vs. closed? (No AC vent in hallway, just return vent)

Who backs out over a roof? Baffling.

Who backs out over a roof? Baffling. A roof is $15-20k. A house is $700k. It is a maintenance item. It is like not buying a used car because it needs $500 brakes. Can someone explain this to me? It seems laughably short sighted. Like are these people that clueless about owning a house? It will always need upkeep.

Insurance concerns? If you can't afford to replace a $20k roof with cash after closing, then you can't afford to own a house, period. Constantly need upkeep: Roofs, HVAC, hot water heaters, driveways, appliances.

Person A: Sees dream house. Backs out over roof. Back in 2019. Now priced out.

Person B: Sees dream house. Pays $20k for new roof. Begins homeownership.

Can someone who has back out over a roof, please explain ? A lot of people in this country can't do math.

How can analysts have a $500 price target on this bubble meme stock? With a straight face? How does this charade continue? How does that Piper guy have a job?

“At $400/share, we think investors can buy Optimus for ‘free,’” Potter stated in the note. Piper Sandler maintained its Overweight rating on Tesla shares and a $500 price target, which implicitly attributes roughly $100 per share to the robot-related businesses— a figure the analyst views as potentially conservative.

Piper Sandler has updated its detailed valuation model for Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), concluding that at recent share prices around $400–$420, investors are essentially acquiring the company’s ambitious Optimus humanoid robot project at no extra cost.

  • Car business is cooked/stalled
  • PE is a joke
  • Optimus is a dancer in a costume.

How does this charade continue?

Playing with worse players made me play great

25 hcp. PW=100. Driver=220

Normally I’m the weakest hitter in the group. Hitting line drives with 5i/6i from the fairway. I think subconsciously I’m always trying to “keep up.” Swing harder, force long clubs, try to prove I belong out there.

But yesterday I played with:

* Guy who topped many balls and half swing

* Guy with a Charles Barkley swing (best of the 3)

* Older guy who takes half swings at everything

And for once… I was the longest hitter in the group by a mile.

Highest ball flight too. Total role reversal.

What was weird is I stopped trying to force golf shots and "keep up"

Using less club and NOT trying to keep up actually made me hit the ball farther.

Tempo was better. Less tension. Better contact.

Confidence was off the charts being the bigDog of the group.

Score dropped a lot from last round because I was not using anything below 7i on fairway

Went to the Capitol to see Chieng/Minhaj show. I just wanted a quick slice of pizza or deli sandwich before the show. Something quick and basic.  I DID NOT WANT TO SIT AT A RESTAURANT WITH A WAITER.

There are no regular delis, just bodegas with no sandwiches.  Did not want a bananna or chips for dinner. No pizzeria.   Nothing on Westchester Ave. Walked down to Main Street.  Nothing.  No pizza.   No deli sandwich. Was shocked at all the Nothing.

After 30 minutes of walking, I went into some restaurant that had some buffet thing and got a $3 empanada. Awful.  Dry and overnuked.  Fell apart in my hands while trying to eat and walk.

Walked to the gas station and got a Snicker's bar. Best bet would have been a slice of pizza inside the theater for $6.

Note to self: Never go to the Cap without eating first.
