What actually separates high level players from everyone else?
I’ve gotten to Rep 22 on PK and Rep 17 on Kensei. I’ve played a few other characters too, and I’ve been playing For Honor for years, but honestly, I’ve mostly played on instinct.
The thing is, I don’t really start thinking about the game until I’m fighting someone who’s genuinely good. I’m having trouble breaking into those really high-rep lobbies, and I’m starting to realize there’s probably a pretty big gap in how I understand the game.
One thing I’ve noticed about really high-level players is that they all seem to have a “bag.”
You make one wrong read, and suddenly you’re in their bag. They start making adjustments faster than you can adapt, and it feels almost impossible to get back into the fight.
Every once in a while I’ll run into someone with hundreds of reps who seems to have an answer for basically everything I do. I’ll change my timing, change my offense, try something different, and they’re already prepared for it. Sometimes they can basically win the entire fight off of that first interaction.
So what actually separates those players from someone like me who has a lot of experience but mostly plays on instinct?
Is it matchup knowledge? Being able to recognize habits faster? Conditioning? Having a deeper understanding of frame advantage? Better reactions? Or is there some higher-level way of thinking about the game that I haven’t developed yet?
Tips for my first lighting call?
I have plenty of general production experience. But this is my first call for lighting. What do I need to bring and do yall have any tips? Thank you!
It’s been about 2 years since I’ve known I was trans and suddenly there’s so much I don’t feel safe talking about.
I’m just wondering how things got this way and how I find my way out? I’ve had to stop on E last thanksgiving and now I feel so trapped in my body and in my neurodivergence. It’s hard to socialize or really connect with people right now. It feels like I don’t really have a personality as a “man” and it’s causing me to mask and intellectualize too much.
What’s your favorite McGonagall moment in the books?
My fav might be McGonagall arguing with Umbridge over Harry’s owls.
'Potter has a criminal record," said Umbridge loudly.
"Potter has been cleared of all charges," said Professor McGonagall, even more loudly.
Professor Umbridge stood up. She was so short that this did not make a great deal of difference, but her fussy, simpering demeanor had given place to a hard fury that made her broad, flabby face look oddly sinister.
"Potter has no chance whatsoever of becoming an Auror!"
Professor McGonagall got to her feet too, and in her case this was a much more impressive move. She towered over Professor Umbridge.
"Potter," she said in ringing tones, "I will assist you to become an Auror if it is the last thing I do! If I have to coach you nightly I will make sure you achieve the required results!'
Or MgGonagall pledging to defend Dumbledore against Fudge and the ministry!
"So," sneered Fudge, recovering himself, "you intend to take on Dawlish, Shacklebolt, Dolores, and myself single-handed, do you, Dumbledore?"
"Merlin's beard, no," said Dumbledore, smiling. "Not unless you are foolish enough to force me to."
"He will not be single-handed!" cried Professor McGonagall loudly, plunging her hand inside her robes. “Oh yes he will, Minerva!" said Dumbledore sharply. "Hogwarts needs you!"
Just reread ootf for the first time in a while.. Man, Harry was on one in that book lol🤣
He had every right to be cuz Dumbledore but it’s still funny how anxious Hermoine and Ron are around Harry.
